Generally, good shops are hard to find, and so when we do find one, it behooves us to share our experiences with everyone else.

I've been in this game since the mid-60s, and I believe this approach helps to raise the overall level of quality in all of the shops out there.
It's rare I find a shop that I don't feel at least a little bit weird/uncomfortable with, but I legitimately trust Bullet which is hard to come across.

Do you mind sharing the price? I bought one recently for $1,895 shipped, a price that I found quite acceptable.
No problem but first I must correct whom I bought the kit from. I bought the kit through BMW of Silver Spring, MD.. thanks for making me look up the bill so I can make the correction for who should get the credit.
Like I stated above I purchased the kit, including the rear rotors (usually sold separately). The price was $1712.90 including shipping (and the box was HEAVY. This was a couple of years back so I would say your price was a good deal.

Bullet Performance did a great job and they treated me like I owned the shop. I really enjoy giving good reviews when they are deserved and couldn't be happier with their service, I will be back.
Which BBK did you have installed?

I just had work done at Bullet as well! They're great.
They were friendly, listened too me like I knew what I was talking about and only had one mechanic (who I met) who performed the work. Great job and thanks Aaron. Something very important to me is they were diligent in keeping me appraised of the work progress without me having too call them.

Personally I enjoy giving high praise for mechanics and shops that do a great job, go above and beyond the norm and steer future customers their way.

Although this wasn't performed today I would also shout out too West End Alignment and Brakes in Gardena California. Was having weird wear patterns on my tires ever since I installed wider size tires on the car.
This shop is a two man operation, father and son and ever since they performed the alignment the car drives straight and true and the tire are wearing even across the tread...the best alignment since I bought the car 5 years back...
BTW he performed the alignment for under $150.00 at the time....I will be back.
I really like this forum, soooo much information out there and I really appreciate the help for everyone.

Second the West End Alignment. I had my E92 done there a few years ago and they were top notch.

So I had mentioned I took my car in for its first service under my ownership. I am the 4th owner I believe. In any case I asked them to check the timing chain assembly and make sure all was well. Well, long and short of it, whether it was needing it or not, they are replacing the assembly under the extended service warranty! Just by the bell as far as I can tell. I believe it would have hit 7 years in-service in short order. Really thrilled to get it done as it has been my only reservation with the car. I have been absolutely head-over-heals with it. Already miss it and can't wait to get it back. Hopefully the new assembly will last many tens of thousands of miles trouble free.

Installed a BMS CAI last night. The engine just sings now Maybe it was the 54 degree morning, but it's not my imagination...the car was snappier on my morning drive. Maybe not so much in power, but throttle response.

Charge pipe install this weekend is next...

Installed a lightly used M235 exhaust on my 228. LOVE it. Sound is transformed, dual pipes look excellent and I swear it feels quicker! (Placebo?)

Had the new metal charge pipe finally installed. I swear the car runs better and has less turbo lag. Just kidding....I just have piece of mind that I can push my tuned car a little harder and not worry about cracking the OEM. Plus, it looks great.

Brakes and Rotors all around

Yesterday I did brakes and rotors all around. Pilenga dimpled and slotted coated 2-piece rotors and Hawk 5.0 pads. And stainless rotor screws from ECS. I loved the HPS pads on my Mini so went with the new 5.0 pads. And figured the bling of the dimples and slots would be nice. The two piece Pilenga's were a deal at PartsGeek.

Getting one of the rear rotors off was hard even though the parking brake was released. It required really backing off the pads and a big hammer but it eventually came off. I cleaned up everything and lubricated the new pads with Brembo lube and putting it all back together was straight forward.

But there are two issues.

The first is easy. You apparently can't reset the Brake Service interval without new pad sensors. I don't know how the computer knows the sensors are not new if they have not been compromised but I ordered new sensors and the install will be easy.

But the second issue I could use some collective wisdom on. I bedded the brakes as per HAWK and the same way I have bedded countless sets before. But when I hit the brakes hard those first two stops, the front end shuttered. Not the pedal so the rotors are not off, but it sounded like the pads were hitting the rotor slots. Ok, 4-6 stops. Let it cool. Do it again. Cool and then some high speed stops. The shutter is definitely diminishing and I took the front pads out to clean them up but that made no difference although there was some of the coating around that I did clean.

I am not driving much as work is from my bed to my computer with no need to drive anywhere. Now it seems that under regular driving around there is no shutter but under hard braking it still seems that the slots are making noise. Of course this has been reported before but I figured if everything is clean and straight, even BMW has slotted and dimpled discs so...

I am considering taking the rotors off and relieving the edges of the slots but I would really like someone to tell me to keep driving it and it will go away.

There is NO CHANCE anything is loose so I do not think there is any danger. But I hate when things don't go as I would hope. And this time for just a bit of bling....

I am of the mind that nothing will happen to me that hasn't happened to a bunch of you before me. What are your thoughts?

Otherwise, tomorrow I think I will bond with the car by hand washing it. Maybe some TLC will stop the shutter? Yeah right.

M performance brakes

Pics of the new M Performance brakes. Not the greatest pics...just realized wheels covered the M emblems in both of them. Did the blue caliper msport rotor in the rear instead of the M Performance dimpled/slotte.

Very nice, and as a fellow M Performance Brake Kit Owner, I'd like to thank you for posting!

I don't think that having matching front and rear rotors really matters all that much, and that you've made the right choice.

Installed a VRSF charge pipe yesterday. I was able to do to it without removing the IC too, although I have bruises all over my arms from working in the tight engine bay. Used a bread knife to cut out the OEM pipe, making the overall job much easier.

The dimples and slots are mainly cosmetic, aren't directional and as far as I know don't do anything for performance but do make an annoying ticking noise when driving next do a barrier on the highway. I have them on my F31 but won't be getting another set when they're due for replacement.

The calipers are the best part of that set, worth getting for that upgrade and do stainless lines, Motul fluid while you're at it. When rotors and pads are due you can shop around...

My understanding is that the slots may improve cooling, if one heats brakes to the degree that it matters. It also reduces effective braking surface and increases pad wear. When the time comes, I plan to stay with solid rotors.
