Ooooh, you're gonna be happy with the results. Way to be proactive on the charge pipe too. The stock ones will eventually crack or pop off under the extra pressure.

I think it was BEM-S4 that mentioned how tricky it was to get a FMIC installed on the F23, and the local bmw performance shop is aware of it as well. |

Decided to install M perf tips after installing M perf diffuser. So far managed to cut one pipe off to add the extender and the tip. The exhaust cutters I rented (2 actually) were pretty dull so took me about 2 hours to cut a pipe - I was very determined. Waiting to get a new cutter, so, as of now, I'm driving with a single m perf exhaust tip poking out.

I wouldn’t install that until you read the last point and find out what “vehile” and “trama” are!

The trunk liner I would recommend 100%.
As for the mats, I didn't get them on my 2er but had them on my MK7 GTI. Great fit, but the colour of the plastic fades rather quickly, cheapening the overall look. I need to find an alternative solution before winter. I like the TuxMats, a local company here in Toronto, however they're not making any more mats for the M240i with xDrive.

Replaced it with its big brother
Still like how M235 handles but M8 is on a different level! Less engaging possibly, but by no means less fun! Which is weird how can a car be less engaging and more fun! Trickery?

Big, powerful GT cars walk the dog – that's always been the case, and there's nothing than can change it. Those of us who treasure them have never lost sight of this fact. Well done! –––––––––––––––––––––––––––– And, hey, I'll go on from there, 'cause I've been there and done that with the original Euro-spec M6 back in the day. I know what it's like to lock into something this special. In the mid-'70s, I was working in Amarillo, Texas. I'm originally from Denver and most of my family was up in Boulder at that time. I was able to roll out of work at 4 PM Friday and roll into Boulder at 10 PM in my Series 3 Jaguar XKE. I would spend the week-end having a good time in Boulder and then roll back down to Amarillo Sunday afternoon. I regret nothing about owning that car; but, please, don't ask me about the downsides of owning a high-end motor vehicle when your'e at the mercy of dealers' service departments (nice as the people working there can be, and they always are and have been! ).

Wash. Wax. Hug. Then finally finalized my very small list of things I want to do to it in order:
1. 328i M Performance exhaust to strap to the back 2. Audio system upgrade! (Seeking recommendations - the base system is markedly worse than my Corolla iM, if that tells you anything) 3. Find a set of the OEM wheels in black and black kidney grills. 4. Detail and ceramic coat. Frankly, I'm not really one for modifying the car (beyond making more noise). While it was too dark for freshly waxed pictures. Here's a pic from my last joyride. Dirty car but talk about a perfect summer sky!

Yes, well, I don't think you're going to get a lot of disagreement there!
I was born in Denver and have spent a good deal of the last six decades of my life in and around the Front Range, so good luck there.

Changed my plugs today....
Actually bought them, Bosch ZR5TPP33S from FCP so long ago they are now discontinued but those are what was in there from the factory. But at 73,000 miles it's time and I made the time today to get the job done.
It actually is an easy job particularly if you watch this video first. I wish I had that locking extension but some electrical tape took care of that. I was surprised that it seems there was a bit of rust on the OEM plug threads that was down in the well when the plugs are removed but fortunately I had a small attachment for my shop vac that sucked it out easily. All 6 wells had the dust. The plugs get torqued to 17ft/lbs which was easy. No anti-seize for me. But I was also surprised that the plugs that came out, I am sure they were never changed before, had a gap of about .025 and the plug box said .032. I split the difference and went with .030 as the plug gap tool I had didn't have .032 and I won't use flat gauges on plugs. All in all an easy job. If you have the tools and watch the video, it's under 2 hours start to finish taking your time to do every step absolutely right. Second time you do it's an hour. It's a bit pricy and not absolutely necessary, but the BMW Spark Plug Installation Tool (83300496065) made threading the plugs back in by hand easy eliminating the possibility of cross threading. It is a good purchase if you have the money. I never saw a tool that I didn't need. No one should be afraid of this job. And it was a nice day here in New Jersey to do it in the shade of my driveway. ///Rich Last edited by Rich.Wolfson; 08-10-2020 at 10:28 PM.. |
