Loving the car and I have been waiting for something like this from BMW but the only thing that looks odd is the roofline, not sporty, not coupe like.

Nicest looking new BMW I've seen in a few years. If it was a sedan or GC, I'd take this over the current 3 Series, which is too big for my tastes. I wonder if it has been de-contented like the 3's have - trunk mechanism, suspension materials, etc.? Seems like the 1's were a little de-contented in comparison to other cars in BMW's lineup already.
Also, I'm not a fan of the 'half an iPad stuffed in the dash' look. I bought my E90 w/o I-drive, as I keep my cars for a long time and that sh*t is gonna break! Just give us the option of not having it.

Can someone explain to me the logic behind the double bubble dashboard. Why not just have single piece? I don't like how it sticks out

Those seats look like they have ample lateral support ( hopefully adjustable? ) and extenders for the bottom cushion. This is looking very good. Man I hope it has good steering feel.

It's ignorant that you even said that the m235i is as much 'm' as the 1M. If you recall the 1M beat the M3's lap time on the top gear track.. Not only did the 1M do this with 100 horsepower less, but the track was damp.. You must not know your facts.. Lol it's okay, I forgive you! |

The info sheet does seem to suggest that all 2-series will have M-sport standard, since it isn't only referring to the M235i. But going by the 1-series and M135i. The M-sport will more than likely be an option on the 228i.

Brake energy regeneration
The info card says the 2 series has brake energy regeneration. Is brake energy regeneration a bad thing for brake feel? Is it really necessary on a car that isn't a hybrid? Is it just adding extra weight? Would it benefit your brakes by making some electricity instead of brake heat? Does the f30 have brake energy regeneration?

"Variable sports steering"
<rant>Is that code for the steering is shit whether your going fast or slow? Bring back hydrolic </rant> Hopefully this means the electric feel can be stiffened for more feedback response. |

But it is definitely an M car, and a very good one too. There was no way that BMW was going to put a brand new engine in that chassis, a V8 would've ruined all the dynamics and engineering a new inline 6 (NA or FI) would have been pointless when there was an already made engine that was perfect for the job (the N54).. And no one even mentioned how severely underrated the engine was in the car... It's pushing ~331 hp / 362 tq to the wheels when they rated the engine at 335hp/370tq. Those numbers definitely don't add up considering that crank hp is ~10-20% less than hp to the wheels. Meaning that the engine should've been rated at around 370-400hp/400-430tq... When they decide to drop an S55 into the 2 series is when the M2 will be born.. (Along with LSD and suspension improvements) Not this relabeled 235is... Lol |

Who's the idiot who would pay a hefty premium for the M2 when the difference in power is only 28hp?
I guess the same idiots who paid a hefty premium for a 1m vs a 135is
