wont a car that stays in peak power for more of the time accelerate faster, ie a narrower gear ratio will keep power at max bhp rather than having a larger rev drop between changes? |

Yes it will. Imagine the opposite. a car with only three gears. There will be a greater chance of it labouring.

I think he was confusing the matter. More gears means better acceleration because the gears are shorter and the engine can stay in the sweet spot. However, in real world driving, if you're cruising along in 8th and you want to get maximum acceleration, the tranny has to drop to 3rd, which adds a delay to the acceleration. That's more for NA engines though, because FI engines tend to make tons of torque down low so you can get reasonable acceleration even in high gears. Part of the reason I like the N54/55 engines so much.

No LED corona rings? Huh? They sure are LED (unless you get a 228i without lighting package, then you don't get any rings). You can see the flickering of the LED rings in videos...I've also seen them in person at the dealer and they are the same as the LED rings as on my '14 X1.

They have them! I've seen 'em in the flesh right next to my '14 X1...in the US! They are the same ones.
