Meh. Not ready to trade in my 1SMC for this blob. The proportions look a little whacky (even though the 1SMC admittedly suffers from the pregnant cat syndrome).

If we add a few inches onto the wheelbase , elongate and stretch the roof , making it more rounder we get a first impression of the forthcoming baby Gran Coupe model.

What a surprise, it looks exactly the same as the upcoming 4 series but at a smaller scale. The same way that the 3 series is just a smaller version of the 5 series, the 3GT is just a bloated version of the F30, etc...
The BMW design department continues to disappoint me. I'm not saying it's ugly, but I hate the fact the every new BMW looks exactly the same as every other model in the lineup. One thing is to have a family connection, and a completely different one is having one basic design stretched, bloated or shrunk into different shapes. Take a look at any other previous generation of BMWs. While each model would be unmistakably recognized as a BMW, none of them would look like a smaller or bigger version of each other. |

Wow I can't believe it's getting so many good opinions, to me I think it's kinda ugly, but then again i may be biased to the 135

I really excited to see the car in the flesh finally- looks really great and I can't wait to see the final press shots.
However, I still will not buy unless the DCT is offered. Just make it an option BMW. |

Beautiful exterior... However, the interior looks very similar to current 3-series, which is unfortunate (I personally dislike this new iDrive display design which look like a Garmin unit attached to dashboard with a Velcro strip). Still, gotta wait for final product and look at it in person...
Also, hopefully this new steering wheel is not the only one that is offered - it is fairly "comfortable" in use but looks kinda "weird" and too "old-fashioned", regardless of the model... I prefer steering wheels with larger airbag area. Last edited by AlexK; 05-16-2013 at 04:36 PM.. |

Agree. That is crap. Hopefully they don't go that route.

All the coupes are slightly quicker than their sedan variants, right? Given the M135i and the fact it is within 1 second of the 1M at Hockenheim (a good test for compact, turbo vehicles), I suspect this car, weighing less and having a bit of a power bump (likely) will either beat or come close to the 1M all while costing less and looking better.

Well, since it is not coming in 6mt, I will not be buying it. BMW is becoming a luxury brand focused on "efficient dynamics"....whatever happened to the ultimate driving machine?

I hope this turns out to be the case. If it can come close to 1M stats, I'll be a happy camper. |
