Me and a bunch of friend are looking to put a camping trip together..i'm looking for some places to go where we can sit back and relax and have a good time...there's probably going to be about 10 of us and we'd like to be on some sort or water ....whether it be a lake or a river or whatever...Not looking for any kind of family resort either...Any suggestions?? looking to stay somewhere in the NJ, NY, Deleware, Maryland,VA area....

Tennessee mountains are really relaxing, lakes everywhere that are pretty much fresh water oceans with no animals to worry about...best lakes IMO for water sports

Elk Neck State Park and Susquehanna State Park are both in northern MD, not far from Joisey. I have tented it in both and had fun.
I also go to Big Meadows on the Skyline Drive in VA. Further west you have Catoctin State Park (home of Camp David) and a few others. PA has some great state parks. Start Googling.

Eastern Slopes Campground in Conway, NH is pretty cool. It's in a big bend of the Saco river, so you can start floating at one beach and float all the way around to the second beach, and then it's a short walk back to the beginning. It's a family oriented campground, so they're not big on loud groups. But if you and your friends aren't planning on being loud, it might be a good place. There are several other decent campgrounds in that area as well. Loads of hiking trails in the area, too.

I am usually only there during the day surfing, but have camped a few times. Campfire smoke helps keep them away and as I said, OFF won't do shit, you need Deet. |
