M Performance Diffuser mystery brackets
I just unboxed an OEM M Performance rear diffuser for the M235i that I ordered to install onto my 228i, along with the M235i exhaust that I bought from another forum member. In addition to the diffuser, the box contained some masking string, and two brackets, about an inch wide, and about as long as the diffuser is high (see photo). I’ve watched a couple of videos of the install. It seems straightforward. But I’ve seen and read no mention of the brackets. Any ideas?

They are support pieces. If I remember correctly from when i put mine on. They install on top of the heat shield and the bottom f the diffuser. Its a real easy install.

Thanks! That’s more or less what I assumed based on the shape and length. I just found it odd that I hadn’t seen them in an install video or write up. If anyone knows of a good walk though that includes them, let me know. Otherwise, I’m sure I’ll manage.

I wondered about those brackets when I got my diffuser too. I found a video somewhere that showed how they were attached. I've had my diffuser installed without them for a couple of months now without any issues, but I suppose I should get them installed at some point...

This is straight from BMW installation instructions document 01292343366 "M Performance Aerodynamics Package Retrofit Kit". Hoping you can read this, or find online.

Without them the diffuser was way less firm and I swear it was almost flapping at high speeds before I went back and added it.

Anyone know the part number for these?
Found a spare set laying around and I’m curious if they’ve got any use for my M4 or if I should let them go (I sold my M235i). |
