2016 M235i Valve Cover Leak
So at 70k miles I have a leak on the passenger side with oil dripping on the exhaust manifold. I did the PCV valve hack 7k miles ago by replacing just the cap. It seems to hold pressure fine. It took 3 minutes to go very slowly from 15 to 0. Did the test hooking a tube to PCV barb and put the end in a cup of oil. My understanding is the pressure should fluctuate but it seems like a continuous suction.
I think now that I should replace the Valve cover as well as the gasket. BMW one seems overpriced. Thinking the BMW gasket is the way to go and either plastic or aluminum cover. |

I just did the valve cover on mine at 140,000 and bought it on fcpeuro. I bought the Elring one and a local shop installed it for me. They mentioned it was a little difficult, but they were able to position it on. Here’s the link to the one I bought:

Thanks, saw some bad things about the aluminum so I'm between the Elring and BMW OEM
With a new actuator seal and 2 bolts, both include the gasket Elring is $353 BMW is $597 On the fence if I should spend $20 on a replacement oil filler cap |

I replaced it about a year ago, I'm confident, maybe overly confident that I can get it off without breaking it. If it does break I'll use FCP Euro's lifetime waarranty to get another. Ordered the parts and they will be delivered next week, maybe sooner. |
