Which Flex Fuel Kit for Manual Gen 1 B58?
Hi,
I'm looking to buy a plug & play flex fuel ethanol sensor for my manual Gen 1 B58. I have the TU pump and I want MHD preferably. I guess the BM3 option for the LPFP works, but then I'm stuck with BM3. Is Dorch the only viable option with MHD and manual transmisson? How much work is it install it and pull the wire through the fire wall? Thanks! |

From what I have heard the flex fuel maps on MHD is a bit better. But the main reason would be that the LPFP is far away from that actual engine. Let's say you run 98, and then fill up E30. The ECU would think that the fueling is E30, but inbetween the sensor and the HPFP, there is a lot of 98 still in the fuel lines.

Unless you had the engine off, at the race line, refueled while sitting there, started the engine and floored the pedal immediately after starting engine, what you're talking about wouldn't make a difference. And even then... Simple, if you're worried about a minute and miniscule difference in fueling then just don't slam anything for a mile or so... Difference of fuel in the line from what the sensor has read and hasn't... That's nuts! Just sayin'! Completely discounts the fact that even with programming, the ECU is still going to push the engine, fuel and air, to reach stoich... Very slight variations like that will only hurt performance for a split second, if at all as the fuel trims might bounce around while adjustments are made because of an unexpected reading from your O2 or wideband. Good luck! |
