Passenger Headlight Assembly Out
Hi all, I have a 2015 BMW M235i xdrive, and I got the daytime lamp malfunction. After taking a look, I see that there is a ton of moisture in my passenger side headlight while the drivers side is dry. The passenger assembly itself is completely out, both angel eyes and the top LED strip, while my headlights and high beams do still work when turned on (so does my yellow indicator bulb). My question is, has the moisture caused a short/damage to my headlight? Will I need to replace the whole headlight or potentially just the module? Will I need to do any coding for this replacement/could I just swap in a used part?
Thanks in advance! |

afaik no coding is necessary with the replacement of the assembly. Not sure about the modules.

Using a code reader will give a very detailed response as to what the problem is. My Autel MX808 did a good job of letting me know that one of my wires powering the assembly was shorted and it closed the circuit to prevent any further damage.

Just curious... any updates? I'm in the same exact situation with my driver's light assembly. It's very likely the moisture has caused some corrosion issues. The moisture entering the unit needs to be addressed. Very likely with a new assembly. ($1600 CAD from a local BMW dealer). I'm not even sure the assembly includes the modules.
I'm trying to hold off as long as I can. March at least. Unless I have catastrophic failure.

Hi all, heres a small update. Scanned codes with an advanced reader as recommended by one of the posters, found out the issue was with my adaptive headlight module; essentially the water ingress shorted it out (its located at the bottom of the headlight) and the whole angel went out. My solution (once it warms up as this car is currently my daily since my normal daily is down for the count) will be to remove the headlight, clear the vent, then use silicone and seal the seams. I'll swap out the adaptive headlight module with a new one (https://www.ebay.com/itm/225251218128) hoping that this non-OEM replacement will work for me. I'll update this as I go but don't expect any updates till it warms in march/april and there are no safety issues with the light at the moment

Any updates?
My car went into the shop this morning for diagnosis on the failed DRL. Fingers crossed.
