How bad is the visibilty on the active tourer?
Hi, my mum and dad are currently looking at an Active tourer, Q3 and B class.
One of the negatives I have found about the active tourer is the visibility at the front due to the windscreen pillars. I found a 3 month old one that had been traded in for a new Honda CRV and the only reason the guy traded it in was because of this very issue. Just wondered how others are finding it? Thanks in advance, Martin |

Hi Martin,
I've had mine 3 months now, and done a fair selection of town, country and motorway driving, and not found it an issue if normal good care and awareness are present. The comparatively slightly raised seating position provides excellent visibility overall. So far, I'm very impressed with the performance, handling, cabin versatility, comfort, features and build. The 3 cylinder petrol is excellent for power, refinement and economy. I came from diesel, and engines like this render it pretty redundant, unless you do huge mileages. Hope this helps Gordon |

Hi guys - a newby...
Bought my 218i in September. Pleased so far, but have an issue with the LACK of brightness with headlamps. Is there a way of simply upgrading the bulbs? Also - compared with the useful fog lights on our previous Skoda Scout - the fog lamps do nothing to further light the road. Are these adjustable? Help please. K. |

You guys should try the 225xe as it moves along nicely and in sport it loves corners. I especially like the X drive as I have had the car in some slippery muddy places.
I've found no problems at all with visibility.

Visibility is not as good as on a sedan or touring where there is just one A Pillar. I find it easier to see as I'm 194cm tall so have the seat most of the way back but my wife who is 156cm tall does struggle as the thick A Pillars are right in her field of side view. She loves the car though but did enjoy the 3 series she had the use of for 2 weeks while BMW replaced her 218i's engine. The visibility on that was much better for her.

My wife doesnt say she has any issues with front or rear visibility. Some reviewers have stated A pilllars are a problem. You may need to mive your head to side as there are 2 as the front as a triangle window detail with thick pillars. Shes only 5ft so may just have the right line of sight to avoid it being an issue.

Hi there. I'm new to the forum but have two BMWs on the drive. Our 2016 218d is the most recent addition. My wife drives it most of the time and has complained about the A-pillar visibility. I notice it too; it's not great but as the other member commented it's manageable.

F46 is poor visibility, due to small window in A-pillar which makes it double pillar. |

We have purchased a 220i AT Luxury (F45) and are extremely pleased with vision, drive, handling, and options fitted. That 8 speed auto is excellent.
Price was a steal as the Dealer was anxious to move it as it was 06/2016 build but first registered 01/2018 so two years of warranty to go, my win! It was a demo with 4,000km and options included Panoramic sunroof, Harmon Kardon sound system, Heads up Display, Professional GPS, 17" Alloys, Electric Leather seats with memory, LED lights including cornering package. Would of liked the Sports Seats as in my X1 E84 MSport, but I guess you can't have everything! On a recent trip we were running at 5.4lt/100km so who needs diesel? Last edited by TitanSilverE46; 04-01-2019 at 09:33 PM.. Reason: 17" not 19" alloys! |

I owned a Mercedes B class before my active tourer & find the visibility in the router to be harder than the B class due to it having practically a double A pillar so makes it harder for me to see at junctions etc... but over time I'm getting used to it & just try to adjust my view to see clearly

visibility
I have found this car to be the worst visibility I've ever seen. I have never scuffed my alloys as much in my life. I have never had problems with reversing in any other car and this one is tricky! I nearly always have to turn the mirror down to get sufficient visibility. Apart from that and the very harsh ride on low profiles, I find it the best car that I have had. Very comfortable on long journeys. Very good MPG. Effortless to drive.I changed from low profile to winter tyres, just to get a better ride and not feel bumps.
