B58 Oil analysis from Blackstone
Just got my results from Blackstone, very excited to share. Thank you to Blackstone for being the source to gain this knowledge!
For me, this interval coincides with the CPO warranty ending and tuning beginning. Fbo + Mhd hpfp e40 now, 60k on engine at end of interval. I thought it would be cool to start a consolidated oil analysis thread where we could all post results. Ideally if we don't clog it up with too much subjectivity, and keep it centered on results... I'm hoping it to be a great reference for anyone trying to decide what oil to run in their B58. Starting with a Liquimoly Molygen 5w40 and ceratec additive. Manganese reference is because I did try some octane boosters a few times in conjunction with logging, and figuring timing affects from fuel quality. Still playing with it a little but much less now, boostane brand, more ethanol dependent now.

Is funny because the M2 recommends the 40W oil... Really not sure why Blackstone would reinforce the thinner oil ... Let alone the 10k commentary.
Personally, I run the 5/40 (M240 - B58 Engine) as my engine ain't seeing extreme cold temps. And if it does, I just refrain from running the engine then, no harm, no foul. But the engine seems to like it better than the thinner oil, is quieter, lol. Moly use is smart, I do too... Also seemed to quiet the engine down a bit after putting it in. I'm due to drop my oil soon and send it out as well, will look for this thread and share. Probably share the new and old BS Report for comparison. Good Luck! |

Amsoil
I run the Amsoil Signature Series 0W-30 and I have been very pleased with is so far. After 5-6k the oil still looks fantastic. I should do an analysis as well on my next oil change so we can all see how the numbers look.

Here's my oil analysis. Very impressed. The car was at 73k miles when I did the oil change so I'd say relatively high mileage. Last oil change was done by the dealer and they used 0w-20. Seems to be highly appropriate. I even drove the car very hard a handful of time on this oil. Stock tune though. I'm now using Pento Super Performance III which is an LL-04 oil so I'm excited to see the results from my next analysis. My car is also now tuned with BM3 stage 2.
