Hey,
txs for quick response, yes to hub centrics, I was actually thinking of putting the bolt conversion, you know the screw in studs at the same time. and yes I wanted to do just the back, mainly for the look, yes. |

I went with Burger Tuning 12mm spacers in the front and rear (they include longer wheel bolts) for my square OEM 18x7.5 +45 wheels during the winter. There is plenty of room and I probably could have gone 15mm all around easily; I am not lowered which could make a difference if you are.
Since you're staggered you may want to run the specs here (https://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Offset-Calculator) and make sure you have enough clearance, but it's probably fine as others have mentioned. I would absolutely get the longer wheel bolts to match the spacer, anything over 3mm always get the proper bolts to match - even at 3mm I probably would because that's just how I am.

One thing to ensure with spacers is that the chamfer on the back is sufficient to allow the spacer to sit flush on the hub and the hub-centric boss sits inside the wheel centre hole without touching the chamfer.
This can be tested by inserting a piece of paper between the clamping surfaces and ensuring it is gripped all the way around the circumference. If the spacer rocks in any way against the hub or wheel mounting surface, do not use it. During a track day in 2021 we had a brand new M2 lose a front wheel at 160km/h when all the aftermarket studs sheared (luckily limited damage and no crash). At first it was thought there had been a bad batch of studs, but it was eventually tracked down to the spacer chamfer and the spacer not sitting flat on the hub. |

I've personally never had issues when pairing OEM wheels with hub-centric spacers designed for a particular OEM and followed their guidelines, but there is no reason not to verify compatibility with the paper test. I suspect many chamfer issues occur when pairing aftermarket wheels with hub-centric spacers.

Possibly different hub lip sizes but this is from the F30 side. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1387467 Picture shows a 12mm lip.
It's definitely worth double checking they mount correctly before you just throw them on and assume everything is fine. Last edited by freakystyly; 05-21-2023 at 12:32 PM.. |
