Top mounts are unique to m2

Except that doing 'LCA only' puts strain on the top mounts and tension struts as they're effectively increasing your track and giving added caster (great for steering weighting), but bad for topmount longevity I'd postulate. Combining the tension struts and spacers with the LCA's reduces the caster back to normal but with the added negative camber ala M2/F8X. I personally wouldn't welcome the added NVH with this method after upgrading to E9X M3 tension struts on my regular E90/ |

Yes, but the lower subframe and LCA and tension rod mounting points are not hence the reason why the suspension assembly moves around so much when you install LCAs and to some extent tension rods. I wonder if the difference in mounting angles puts stress on the bearing.

Not sure but m2 stock alignment is more akin to f8x than f2x/f3x so m2 mounts maybe designed to suit geometry with more caster?

This is now a concern of mine. I had to replace the front tires with over 50% tread leaft as the inside of both fronts were destroyed. Feathering really badly and tread separation. Tow was set close to 0 so i'm going to add a little more toe. But caster needs to be reduced as well.

FYI I have verified with Vorshlag a few months ago that their camber plate/top mount is interchangeable with the M2/m235.
Does that mean 100% that the OEM mounts are the same? No, but it's a good indicator. For the 5 bolt mounts at least.

Realoem also quotes m8 x 6 bolt top mounts 31302420596, that supercedes m8 x 5 bolt top mount

Going to bring this thread back from the dead. The LCAs look great, but a few other questions. I can’t find much info on the thrust arms.
1. Are he thrust arms also recommended? Beyond being able to fit a bigger tire by reducing caster, what other advantages? 2. If I also wanted to do a 245/40/18 square setup on ET 35 rims, is this doable with the LCAs alone? Would I also need the longer thrust arms? Might be safer with 235/40/18 square? 3. Now that people have a lot more miles with the LCAs, are others seeing excessive inside tire wear or stress on the upper bearings from the change in geometry? |
