2023 M240i AWD vs RWD for possible future tuning/fun?

Hello all. I am fairly new to the car world in general so flame gently. I am trying to decide on the RWD m240i vs AWD, and plan to make some basic bolt on mods and tunes. The AWD clearly takes off faster, but the RWD will be lighter and I secretly hold onto the idea of swapping it out for a manual one day, years years later (which I have been told everything from "follow your dreams if you have will and $" to "That's dumb AF.")

Some background: I really want a manual but I am disappointed by options available at this price range, the m240i however has everything I want and a decent powerplant to work with (seemingly).

Previous cars I had been looking at were: 400Z, GR86, Camaro 2SS.

The 400Z and GR86 felt like horrible deals compared to the Camaro but... I can't stand the look of it, no matter how much I try. Interior wise they don't compare either, especially to the m240i. The 400z and GR86 don't seem to be available anywhere without markup (5k+ on a good day) and I suspect the new M2 will be higher MSRP plus a massive markup.

TLDR should I drop the dream of making it a manual slidey fun car years down the line and just get AWD for a straight line beast or keep the dream alive? Also any other insights between AWD and RWD would be appreciated.

Also if anyone has any insight on the $1500 tire cooling package, it would be appreciated. Thanks!

Well, first off, you’re in the wrong forum.
We’re all F22/23 drivers here (pre-2021 m240i)

You probably want G42 people:

That said, I drove both the AWD and rwd F22. I choose rwd.
My decision was based on the car that, for me, felt more fun to drive.

RWD. Keep the RWD alive! Especially if you want a fun car with good tuning potential, and to be able to slide in the future.

I too have been playing with the idea of doing the M2 6spd manual swap. (I also have the zrf8spd in RWD, mega fun)

Oops! Thanks for the input and correction. I'll post in the correct spot.
