Recently purchased a 2016 218D M sport coupe which is my wifes car, everything is great apart from cleaning it the other day for the first time properly we noticed under the speaker grilles under the front seats there are no speakers ?!

Did all the 2 series coupes come with speakers here (sub woofers) Ours doesn't have the HK sound system but surely the base models has basic subs ??

There is the 2 blue clips there for the speakers but nothing there.

CAn i simply order some on ebay etc and retro fit them ? will they need to be coded in or anything.

Seems the previous owner maybe took them out before selling it to the dealer we bought it from.

It sounds like you may have the base audio system. In North America we have the "Hifi" and HK as the only two options. The good news is that you have a lot of room for improvement and a clean slate to do it with. The bad news is that it wont be super cheap.

ok cool, im finding it hard to work out what actually came with the base model system, id assume it had subs but not very good ones. the audio seems very basic and for a 2016 bmw id expect much more. My old E60 from 2004 had a basic system and it was amazing.. hmmm

For a very long time now, BMW has been cutting corners left, right, and center - and not just in its audio systems.
