Other than making an easier wheel mount, I don't see the advantage of the studs over bolts. Especially as noted in regard to using spacers... But thanks for recommendation!

If I'm going through the trouble of a stud conversion I would also choose the 1.25 to 1.5 thread pitch conversion studs. So in addition to easier wheel mounting, you get the added benefit of a coarse thread. 1.25 pitch fine threads are more prone to cross threading compared to 1.5 pitch coarse threads.

If you stick with bolts, get one of these to hang the wheel on:

I have a few months of street and track driving
No compromises with the 380mm except conversion price. Better looks. Better heat management best brake upgrade for price on any platform I have owned

Bill, are you still just running stock wheels? I am trying to find wheels that will fit with the Kern adapters (currently run Enkei 18x8.5 ET38 and they didn't fit). I was looking at Apex SM-10 in 18x8.5 ET35 and the Apex guys can't confirm it will fit... can't seem to find any certain options in 18 inch.

Anyone do the rears too? I want to know if I can use the M3 knuckle instead so that I don't need to shave off anything

Be aware, on top of cutting the stock knuckle you'll also lose the ebrake. The M2 rotors parking brake drum part is way bigger than the stock 2 series. I went back to stock size rotors once I realized I couldn't adapt it to work or park anywhere safely (manual). I'm sure they're great on track days but I also didn't want to swap back and forth all the time. Now I have $600 rotors just sitting on a shelf, yay.

I don't know if the 3 series knuckle bolts up or not but I'd love to know.

Revisiting this thread to just ask how everyone is doing with their conversions! Any new science gained thru experience? Changes to set up...?

Whole summer of tracking and everything is good.

I want to know if anybody put a 3 series knuckle on the back to keep the parking brake functional.

I am currently attempting to do front and rear M3 rotors with SLG adaptors, but I'm hitting a few issues. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2049292

In regards to the handbrake, I cut up 185mm shoes, removed friction material from the 160mm shoes, and had them welded together. Not quite in the car yet, but I do not foresee any fitment issues with clearance from my poking around at the weekend!

Current game plan is:
- New custom front brackets offering 19mm spacing of the front caliper in lieu of SLG's 23mm. 3D printed bracket just arrived but I know it will need some work before final assembly
- Rear: 3mm spacer between hub and rotor, and a 3mm ring on the hub - 75.0mm->72.6mm. Front bracket manufacturer wasn't keen to make a revised rear for me... So will persist with the SLG unit.

I'll post up some pics this weekend!

How about the e-brake shoes?

And Kern's brackets fit perfectly, if you wanted to skip all that other work.

I am making my adapter with them... I don't like how skinny that one is, and lots of feedback on that product page suggests a 19mm space between hole centres is more ideal than 20mm, which is what I am doing. So far they sent me a very average 3D printed model of an adaptor that did not consider that carrier mounts overlap the other bolt holes, so no countersunk bolt holes were provided.

Anyone knows which how to fit the M2 back rotor (370mm/380mm). I suppose that this kit is only meant for the front rotor?

Epytec would not make me bracket for F2x with 12.5mm thick carrier mounts. The SLG kit I believe only suits F30 carrier because their adaptor does not work for me. I am persisting with a heap of dumb stuff including a 3mm spacer between hub and rotor, a 5mm wide 75.1mm OD to 72.6mm ID hub ring to press into the rotor, and a 1mm spacer between the SLG adaptor and hub carrier.

At this point I wish I just purchased a rear brake kit from Paragon Performance with Alcon calipers!

Apex VS-5RS 18x8.5 ET40 fit, I just did the install (Kern brackets) over the weekend.

Kern417 makes a kit for the front and rear, but as we discussed earlier you will lose your e-brake function.

Hmm, good to know. Seems it is not worth (yet) to buy. I am quite hesitant to buy stuff from US due to delivery time and high additional taxes in Sweden.

Right, in that case I'd rather go for an upgraded front rotor only.
