doughnuts and jacks :)
after a cut in my RFT side wall I thought it prudent to get one of my winters on for the trip to get the new tire changed
As I have NOTHING to jack the car up with I had CAA come round and do it,, so it raised some questions: Jacks: I notice anywhere I go guy's just put it on a hoist or jack up, there are no jack pads in sight and I don't have one either. DO I really need those jack inserts or is there a different type of jack pad I can get as a standard jack, if that makes sense..why does everyone go on about thoes jack inserts if no one seems to use them ? 2> BMW doesn't list in realoem an emergency jack and personal/private sellers with a BMW jack that might work I can't find, i even tried amazon, not sure if I'm not looking for the right phrase or spec (bmw 2 series jack / emergency jack BMW/ scissor jack BMW) 3> DOUGHNUTS, I was thinking about spares not the tasty treats ! I had RFT's putting a spare (winter/summer) tire in case of an issue or at least a get me home might be a good idea. But the thought of an un secured full-size tire in the cabin in an accident doesnt sound good I don't use the back seats and instead of using a full size tire I thought of a doughnut, but would one go over the calipers ? I mean in 8 years of BMW ownership, this is the first prob I've had with an RFT thoughts ? |

You can by a donut that will fit the f22 from ecs tuning or turner. They are 220$US, (160$ when i got mine in 2020). Got a 20$ scissor jack from harbor freight that fits in the plastic jack slots. Also ditch the runflats.

I got these cheap poly jack pad adapters from Amazon. I just use them so they don't mar up they jack points.
I also keep an E46 jack in the car for emergencies. BMW been using the same jack pad since then and it works fine. They weigh about the same.
