Unhappy Spec stage 2+ failure after 10k miles.

had this clutch for 1 year and 10k miles. No track use, every so often spirited mountain drives and about 4 launches from a dig at 3-4k rpm. cars power is well under the clutches maximum limit

This is worrisome. I have a 2016 M235i 6MT RWD with 47,000 miles. It is on its 3rd clutch.

OEM replaced at 19k miles. I got the car CPO with 27k on it. Felt slip on the OEM replacement at ~45k. Just replaced it with a clutchmasters stage 2. I hope I get better results than you did.

No track use. No other mods. Car is stock other than this new clutch. Occasional spirited mountain drives but no other hard use. What’s the deal with the clutch on this car?

There isn't a clutch problem with these cars that I'm aware of, maybe you have something else causing your issues. Delay valve sticking? Throw out bearing hanging up?

I kicked the springs out of a CM stage 2 in another car, it was rated for a bit more torque than the car made but it came apart anyway, won't buy anything from them ever again.

The collapsed and broken springs suggests hard launches and/or abuse. If that's not the case then it's likely made with really shitty materials.

What are your mods? I think that clutch is only rated for 380-396 ft/lbs at the crank (not wheel). M235i makes sick 330ft/lbs and the website says stage 2 plus gives you 15-20% more clamping power at the engine.

Here's your problem, the spec clutch holds significantly less torque than the stocker.

I think that's from an article regarding a GTI but ya, you should compare your crank torque to the torque capacity of the clutch.

Hi I’m sorry I’m late. It’s the stage 2+ clutch sb553H-2 according to topgearsolution it holds 545. If I were to do it all over again armed with more information with cross platform parts. I would have went to the 550i route.

Delay valve has been deleted with e9x slave and ur right my throw out bearing does hang and then it goes clunk sometimes. Is there anyway I can fix that?

You might want to consider bleeding your slave cylinder as well. You may have already done this if you put in the e90 slave, but it wouldn't hurt to do it again
