I got some Dinan springs (D100-0929) & the handling kit (D193-2201) installed at one of the authorized Dinan dealers, and now my right side is creaky af 🥲

I’ve already put about 150 miles on the car since the install, but the problem doesn’t seem to be getting any better. I’ve messaged the shop where it was installed and they instructed me to wait 1000 miles after the install for them to take a look at it. It’s pretty embarrassing driving through parking lots, I feel like everyone can hear the loud ass creaks 😂

Is this normal? Should I be concerned? VIDEO BELOW.

There was a sales freeze on the Dinan springs last year due to this creaking issue. My understanding is that there are some defective ones out there so I would give the shop a call and alert them to this if they are unaware. I was unable to purchase the springs last year while they were sorting out the issue and ultimately decided to pass on them.

No. That is not normal.

And driving it like that for a 1000 miles is ridiculous. I mean I get things settle. But that sounds shady to me that they suggest you wait.

I would have them remove them or redo the install. No way would that be acceptable, at least for me. If is indeed a defective spring, I hope Dinan would help you out in this case. Maybe pay for the labor?

my two cents....

Could instead be the top strut mount.

That's pretty concerning. I ordered these springs from UroTuning beginning of February, and they barely arrived a few weeks ago due to getting pushed back week after week. The whole reason I went with Dinan is for the quality, but I've had bad luck with their product since the get-go it seems...

I talked to the shop owner, and made an appointment to get it looked at this Friday. He too suggested that it could be the strut mounts. But my issue is that my suspension had 0 noise or issues prior to the install.

I'm not too familiar with suspension components, but could the mounts have been damaged during the spring & handling kit install?

Good to hear the owner is up for helping. I hope they can resolve this quickly.

In theory, yeah, anything could have been damaged. But more likely it is an improperly torqued top mount or maybe the rubber insulator that goes between the spring and the strut top mount. IF anything is damaged it is on the shop.

The noise sounds like rubber being torqued on (in my opinion of course). Not metal to metal, which is good. But clearly something is binding and causing the noise. I am willing to bet it can be fixed fairly easily, unless Dinan still has an issue with its springs. But I don't think this is related personally.

Looking forward to hearing what the fix was....

Took the car off the charger and went to Costco. 6 weeks sitting in the garage. Using Mini Cooper S for groceries.

If it wasn't ordered exactly how I wanted it, paid for, Dinan elite tune and Dinan CF intake, 8000 miles going on 5 years old, I'd probably sell it to someone that would actually drive it,

Sounds like my story, except: Kroger, Mazda 3 MT hatchback, and 11K going on 3 years. Still, it's there when I want to occasionally enjoy it.

Ceramic coated with Gtechniq CSL and two coats of ExoV4. Really happy with how it turned out. Washed, iron remover, clay and prep wiped first. Took three days.

I am experiencing the same thing. Got my Dinan springs and handling kit installed a little while ago and I have the same noise on the same side.

The problem is fixed. I took my car to their shop in Fremont and the car was literally out in 15 min. I’m glad they were able to fix it with ease.

Yes mine got fixed. The owner of the shop said the spring wasn’t seated correctly, most likely by going over a dip too quickly after the install or something like that he suggested. Perhaps try starting there.

Keep us updated on the issue.

Finished the rear suspension - installed the Ohlins R&T last year then the Covid lockdown hit. So I got it aligned and never finished, because I realized after a couple months I wasn't driving anywhere exciting. So now after finishing the install today, getting aligned on Thursday - heading to Deals Gap and the Smoky Mountains for a week on Saturday for a much needed break. From there onto Spartanburg for some M driving classes @ the BMW Performance center.

Translation: the person installing the spring didnt bother to turn it to have the spring end line up with the bump in the seat, so I'm happy to fix it and hand you some bullshit about a dip and 5 min after you leave I'll be slapping the install dipshit in the head

Take what I said with a grain of salt.
Ended up bringing my car back to BMW and they have had it for some time.

I got a call today that it was indeed unmatched tread on the back left tire and they said it was driving as expected under acceleration with a new one. Picking it up tomorrow.

Happy to get it back and resolved, but not happy to shell out for another tire.

Update: Do NOT recommend. I had to spend two hours gently removing this coating with a horse hair brush, then another hour removing it from the seams with a toothpick.

Went to European Auto Source and Tom was SUPER helpful getting full-screen CarPlay enabled on my 2017 M240i.

I already had the standard CarPlay. He ended up needing to update the software with an enet cable and then Bimmercode allowed him to change the resolution to full-screen.

It feels so much nicer and more modern than the 3/5 screen it was before. A surprise feature is I can now click my iDrive control left and right for next / previous track.

They charged me $125, but that was with carplay already installed from the factory.

I actually have no idea how! I just know that a software update to the car was required first, then within two minutes he was able to use bimmercode to change to fullscreen.
