Will 245 tires fit on front 18x8 ET35 wheels?
I replaced my wheels with 18x8 ET35 all around, but kept the stock 225 tires up front.
They're about to wear out, so I'm wondering if I can do the same 245 width tires on the front wheels without rubbing or rolling. My M240i isn't lowered and I don't plan to lower it. I can only seem to find info on 18x8.5 on the forums.

The width of the wheel 8 vs 8.5 wont matter. Your offset is 35 which will give you 5mm of room from the suspension for the tire, but the wheel width wont matter. What will matter at that offset is distance from the tire edge to the fender. Again, since the wheel cant hit the fender the 8 vs 8.5 wont matter. Your only real risk is the tire sticking out a little and hitting the fender on big bumps and hard turns. Not all 245 are the same one that tends to go wider could give you a problem while one that tends to go less wide could be fine.

The ET / offset is indicating how far away from the middle of the rim (left to right) the attachment is. Higher numbers = moved from the center so that the wheel is closer to the inside and lower number = closer to the outside fender So a 8.5 wheel/rim is 0.25 inch closer to the fender and the suspension vs a 8 inch wheel. In most cases this will not matter itself as the tire is usually the widest / rubbing point. But as a tire might have a slightly different form (stretched/balloon) it has an impact. The correct part is that different tires are wider/ slimmer/.... even as they are both 245 (some run wide etc.) And you have to look at several point - hitting the fender (roll / pull to avoid) - hitting the brake caliper - hitting the suspension (rubbing on the shocks) While in theory you can add a space if 2 or 3 happens you probably run into more problems with 1 this way. |

I have a slightly similar question. I'm currently running M405 wheels (7.5Jx19f + 8Jx19r) and Pirelli P Zero runflats - 225/35 R19f + 245/30 R19r. I would like to replace the runflats with Michelin PS4S and was wondering if I coudl run 235/35/19 on a 7.5 rim and 255/30/19 on a 8 rim.
