I've been looking to get a 2 series coupe and I noticed that the 228i is slightly faster than the 230i. If I were to get a 2016 228i, what would be different besides the engine from a 2017 230i? The screen and most of the interior looks to be almost the same, so I'm not sure if there's even any reason to get a 230i.

LED headlights and taillights, backup camera and power seats became standard, the gear ratios were adjusted for better cruising economy, the dash lights are white as opposed to amber, and two new colors. But the significant change is the engine. If you're leaving it stock, either engine is fine. But if you want to mod it, the B48 seems to have a much higher ceiling.

At least some of the features you've noted are associated with the 2018 LCI and I don't believe they exist in the pre-LCI 2017 230's (standard back-up camera for example).
