TPMS malfunction

I have a 2019 m240i xdrive and got a tpms malfunction message this weekend. It's not the same one you get when one of your tires is low as it won't measure pressure at all. anyone else have this happen? Could it be the batteries in the sensors have gone dead? I am currently running a set of 19" vmr wheels on the car.

It is possible a sensor has gone bad. Your local tire shop should be able to test for you.

thanks! I too am thinking that might be the case. so you think a place like discount tire might be able to test that and figure out which one needs replaced?

well I have an aftermarket set of wheels on it so they probably wouldn't be covered.

Perhaps too obvious and already tried this, but did you run the full reset program? When mine goes off (too low pressure after track days) it won't read any pressures until I rest it, even if they are pumped back up.
