Popped a code
So I popped my first code. I was using my old OBDII reader - so it did not identify the code - I looked it up and it is :
P12A8 - Boost Pressure Sensor Pressure Too Low Full dislosure 2017 M240i - 25,000 miles Dinan Stage 1 Elite, midpipes and AWE exhaust. Stage one has been on the car since the car had about 9,000 miles. Last edited by WolfGTI; 06-03-2018 at 10:59 AM.. |

I'll be following any comments as I just threw P12A9 (Boost Pressure Sensor, plausibility, Pressure too high) at morning start up.
2017 M240i w/21k miles - Remus Catback - Dinan Stage 1 (was in bypass mode when code popped) (BMW just replaced the motor a week ago, hence why I am in bypass mode until ~1k miles break (back) in) It's been at BMW for a day and a half. Tech cleared the code but can't replicate it and has no good guess as to the cause. Last edited by SwallowedABug; 06-01-2018 at 09:06 AM.. Reason: Clarity |

Got the PA12A8 code among a bunch of others back in March. Turned out it was a bad Dinan harness. It was in the middle of their move, so it took awhile to get one out and I’m about 2 hours from their new location. I think everything is back to normal with support now though.

Same here. I had multiple boost and temp sensor CEL's. Dinan replaced the tuner ecu first, still had CEL's. Then they replaced the harness. Fixed the issue. I've got about 10k miles on the new equipment with zero issues. Runs great.

Same here, first they replaced the tuner, still threw codes, now last week they replaced the entire unit, will see if we are good to go over the next couple of months

Loss of compression in Cylinder 6. Car was a CPO with 18K miles when I bought it. I drove it for just about 2K when the motor suffered catastrophic failure. No advanced warning (no codes) beyond some stuttering/stumbling (felt like fuel cut/severe pulled timing) on the highway the day prior to the car throwing a drivetrain malfunction code. BMW replaced the motor under warranty. Car was still not 100% (or even 90%) when I got it back as I was still getting that stuttering/stumbling effect on the highway--which presented during slow accelerations at low RPMs (~2.5K to 4.5K RPM in 6 gear). That also may be why the car was registering some Super Knocking in cylinder 4. In any case, to eliminate some easy suspects that might have been contributing to the knock, I ran out a 1/2 tank of what might have been bad gas and put in a tank of race gas. So far, the car is running strong--like new and no codes. I'm also going to run a cycle of Sea Foam through the fuel system.

Spoke to soon. Popped the second P12A9 this morning at start up. I suspect there's also some knock. Acceleration is again stumbling at ~2.5k to 3.5k RPM at highway speeds. It's completely discernable while attempting to accelerate slowly and steadily. Anyway, back to BMW tomorrow.

Still hunting down the cause(s) in my car. BMW Tech insists the Dinan isn't the problem--he thinks it's fuel related. Most recently, the car threw P12A9, P12A4, and P0440. It also died while driving after throwing drive train and chassis faults. Instead of pulling the harness, they replaced the boost and charge air temperature sensor. They also programmed the ECU w/what they said were updates from BMW. Per their instruction, the original Dinan is still installed--not in Bypass. |

Got it, thanks. BMW replaced the 1) intake charge air temperature and 2) boost pressure sensors. It's only been 3 days, but so far no CELs. Am getting hesitation and what feels like fuel cut/pulled timing--but that could be 1) crappy 91 octane and/or 2) the 110 Nevada weather

This is in the b58 forum section, I don't believe we experience the same charge pipe failure as the m235is, so it's definitely unrelated. Glad you got yours sorted tho.
