Catted Downpipe + Non-Resonated Catback
Anyone here have the remus non resonated system on their m240i? I've been thinking about the addition of a catted downpipe (either CG or AA) but am worried about the cold start. Anyone know how much louder a catted downpipe would make my cold start ? Thanks!

Cold start is louder than stock but won't be close to how loud it is with catless. I added catted DP on my REMUS setup, cold start increase is noticeable but not obnoxious

That's exactly right, isn't it. The issue with a lot of modifications is that you have to try them to decide if you like them. And therein lies the rub. Believe me, I know!
Information from other forum members, whether in the form of video/audio or text, is never more than an introduction into the reality of what a mod might mean for you. My own experience is that it's a combination of doing research on forums (and, much better, if you have access to them – qualified shops) and trying things out (while being willing to accept the expense of failed experiments) that will eventually enable you to become knowledgeable enough to successfully navigate your way through all of the options. The bottom line is that the people with the most hard-won knowledge are those who have spent the time, money, and energy to learn what works and what doesn't work. Members of forums like this one would be wise to listen to those who have traveled that road before them. Just my 2¢.

Won't be looking to flash tune any time soon as my car is a 2020 MY with less than 5k miles. It's very hard for me to surrender my warranty all at once to BM3. My dealer is fairly lenient with mods as long as they do not cause a CEL. (That's why I have a catback and intake and am considering a catted downpipe.)They however are not lenient on tuning. Most I could do is push my luck with a jb4 and that won't allow me to turn off the cold start. AA catted and CG precisión downpipes both cost around $800-1000 so I'm trying to make sure of my decision.

I'm really considering adding a Downpipe. Not going catless...don't want the smell or the CEL! Not gonna go cheap but I'm not gonna spend $1500. It already sounds great so a little louder is just a plus. I want more performance, power, Hp and torque! I'm leaning toward the 200 CEL option. What kind of Hp and torque increase can I expect? What are your thoughts?

Love the sound of my car with the remus system cold, but once it warms up it's much quieter. I'm doing it mainly for the sound at the moment. (Turbo spool noises, louder overall) Looking to improve sound once the car warms up but trying not to make my cold start stupid loud. I also plan on installing a JB4 with it later on for power gains.

I'm not a fan of JB4 on the latest version of DME, it could fool the older version but this new one is too clever for JB4 to work well. You are much better off with a flash tune, which by the way increases the sound volume quite a bit. Nothing like an extra 60-90 horses to ramp up the volume. |

I have the full Remus catback with the racing midpipe and will be installing a VRSF catless downpipe today. I'm concerned about the volume level as well but I figured there would be only one way to find out. I'll report back with my thoughts.

Interested to hear your thoughts on the combo once you install! I was looking to pair a Catted downpipe to my remus non resonated system, but this will still give an idea

Now I have the AA catted dp with the resonated Remus. It's got good volume and tone without being conspicuous.
I previously had the AWE with the AA dp and it sounded awesome, but was too loud with cold start and in continuous driving, but under WOT and when downshifting it was glorious. |
