Upgraded Transmission Mounts
Hi everyone,
Since I have a manual I wanted something that would stiffen up the shifter feel and although I have the short shifter it was still a but soft when engaging the gears. So I tried ECS transmission mounts and they delivered too much NVH then I went to Rouge and found that it was a good balance between comfort and performance. What are your thoughts? |

After trying a few mounts myself, I have ended up using these
"URO PARTS 23711175939" I've tried and use occasionally some poly 80a & 90a durometer Revshift brand ones which give precise shifter feel but do transmit a bit of NVH. I then used a pair of M3 mounts(OEM Rein 22322282340 ) , while better than m235i OEMs, they still have an hourglass shape and were still a bit soft for my taste. Ultimately I've stuck with the URO parts mounts as they are completely solid shaped and are still made of rubber material, minimal NVH. I believe these are comparable to the ones you are using as they are also rubber, correct? |

I have Rogue Mounts and love them. No added nvh, but much better feel.
Which short shifter do you have?

I am also interested in upgrading transmission feel in my 235i. I hope it will rekindle my passion for driving.
1) How much time does it take to install those rogue transmission mounts ? Can any mechanic do it ? 2) Do you need a short-throw shifter as a prerequisite ? (personally I don't mind regular-throw shifter because in M235i it is already shortened) 3) Are there any downsides for a daily-driver car or any durability issues ? Thanks |

I tried ECS 70A mounts and even that was too much NVH for me on the daily. Last edited by Getzinem; 04-19-2020 at 10:59 PM.. |

1)Takes only about 30 minutes. 2) You don't need a short shifter, but if you don't mind the extra effort I feel that the short shifter modification would rekindle your passion for driving. 3) No downsides during daily drives. NVH feels the same as stock imo Let me know if you have any other questions. |

Other than using Rouge before why didn't you go with another brand for the m235i? Here are the details of the TMS shifter if you were curious. |

By providing a new, modified carrier, no additional parts are added with the Rogue shifter. I knew that over the years nothing would get loose or rattle. I also like to support smaller companies that are specialists in what they do. I just watched your video and I thought it was nice and thorough.

It's actually probably slightly less work because you don't need to transfer any parts to the carrier. The rogue carrier comes with the raised cup welded and the front carrier bushings pre installed. You also don't have to remove the selector rod to transmission connecting while only doing an SSK

I also tried ecs poly mounts, but it was too harsh.
Mind you I have a body mounted self centering shifter I went with uuc e series m3 high density rubber mounts, and metal cups. Very happy. The rubber Is stiffer then stock and absorbs the NVH, the metal cups provide the support to prevent movement.

I'm going to find out. They have a different colored strap. Perhaps they're a harder durometer or the strap is stiffer to keep the mount from rolling over as much?
I have hard time believing that the Rogue mounts don't create any additional NVH. They're much thicker and apparently a harder durometer. Perhaps the OP, forgot what the stockers felt like prior to the ECS and Rogue mounts.

I mean if you really really pay attention you can tell a slight difference. I was running on the stock mounts before the Rogue ones (I took off the ECS ones after a day). I am interested to know what you find with the mounts that you have. Please update us. |
