I just made the same decision. Bought a 2015 M235i because 21k out the door. Someone traded it in on a Acura SUV and had paid it off. Must have not gotten much for trade in.

I think the 240i had collision avoidance if I recall. That was a big loss, as my new driving teen will occasionally pilot the car. I really wanted the 240, but, again, 21k at a dealer 10 miles from me made all the difference.

ya but truth is who is going to go 500+ hp ? i think both motors are great and my 2014 n55 motor has been amazing after 30k miles. b58 is solid too.. heard coolant issue is an easy fix ? the b58 def handles more power but i plan to keep my m235i for awhile with 390hp now and will big turbo it after my next home flip

This advice pretty much sums it up from every angle.

Yup, I second that. Indeed that's sound advice: buy the newest and the lowest mileage BMW you can, with a "oh crap fund" on the side. I would emphasize "lowest mileage" a bit more than "newest" since the probability of gremlins showing up increases exponentially with time, regardless of MY for the current 2 series
