Think it looks very promising indeed.
Front lights have been fattened to make the higher models look more premium, but if this is a basis for an S58 M2 I'm all back in the coupe game. Grilled yay Rear yay Lights I can live with for £30k saved

Obviously fake. G42 is supposed to take design cues from the 3.0 CSL Hommage Concept - this has nothing from that car.
Moving on... |

BMW's design team must be on drugs, none of this looks cohesive, it looks like a million different cars, and those taillights are terrible. I'm glad it doesn't have a huge grill, but the simplicity of the F22 is gone, and this just looks weird and very japanese!

And while some of Scott's information should be taken with a grain of salt, if he says the 3.0 CSL Hommage is the base of the G42 2er, I don't see why we wouldn't believe that since it has design elements that we're seeing with GXX BMW's -- headlights, vertical styled grilles, etc. This "spy shot" looks like a coupe version of the X2 which I doubt BMW is going to use, it's a 2017 design which BMW is going to extend another 7 years from when the G42 is released? Don't buy it. If someone told me this was going to be the X2 LCI, I would believe that more than this being called the G42. Last edited by TheBingoBalls; 04-26-2020 at 09:16 AM.. |

BRZ/FRS is exactly what it looks like lol.
Maybe since the Supra is all BMW, the 2 Series will be all Toyota Haaaahaha. Rear does look a bit aggressive.. I dig that.

The heck is wrong with those silly taillights? They look so... wrong.

Might be the smoked look. If they were bright colors and just kinda bulging on out there then I'd have a problem lol

How can they improve?
The more I gawked at it the more I love my 2017 230I
My car continues to bring a smile to my face when I walk into a parking lot, albeit with a mask on, when it's the most prolific looking car in the lot. |

First impression; it's different. I'd have to see more, but I think with time I could grow to accustomed to it. For a while, I thought the 2018 LCI was weird looking; the interior trim was all backwards from the previous version, but I got used to that too in my wifes car.
Fortunately, nothing about this car makes me gag like the front end of the new 4-series. Not that I want a 4-series, but I will never buy that car due to the OVERSIZED grille alone.

whoever is in charge of BMW design for all the G series needs to be fired. They did a terrible job in my opinion

Every g series besides the g30 pre-lci 5 and g01 x3 looks horrible to me. It lost the BMW look. it's a whole new brand identity.

One more reason to love the F22, imo. It'll be a part of BMW's "traditional" history, a timeless classic look, with the driver in mind.

G21 looks delicious. Maybe it's just me but I love the rear end. So smooth and sophisticated (however much it looks like a Lexus lol). And the front looks mean with a blacked out grill.
