M235i Mileage = troubles
MY first BMW car...been around the block with several 2 wheel BMW's
Just a survey to set my mind in one direction or another. I have 27k miles on M235i and don't know the past history of my car. What has been your experience with this car over the years ? Last edited by Hap; 02-18-2020 at 05:17 AM.. |

There are a bunch of threads about higher mileage cars here that have been helpful for me to comb through. I like your poll, but I would suggest adding a higher mileage option, as some may have over 75k (I'm coming up on that mark soon).

FWIW, I'm not quite at your mileage categories and have a 4 cylinder (a keeper, not a daily driver), but if time is also of interest, going on six years, I had one rattle in the first year, easily repaired. That's it.

I just hit 40K (BM3 tuned since 29K), and the only issue I've had is that damn coolant like cracking. Do yourself a favor, and order the <$40 part now for when it happens. https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-4...uine-bmw-part/

2014 at 75k miles, have not had a single mechanical problem.
Regular 7,500 mile oil changes, used 5w-30 TwinPower, currently use Penzoil 5w-40. Plan on flushing the trans before spring. |

Must be nice to have a dealership like that. Mine wanted $58 for the coolant hose and $12 for a liter of coolant, before sales tax.

75k, stock cars, no issues.
A lot of new BMW owners like to lease their bmws and beat the hell out of them. Then the cars are sold used and then the next owner has issues. Endless cycle. |

Ouch. I do most of my own maintenance, but they've been pretty awesome for anything I needed from them. From what I've seen the Service Advisers are all car enthusiasts, so they shoot straight and don't try to milk you. In this case, I called for the part 5 minutes before Parts was closing. They emailed me a quick PDF for a CC charge approval, and I was able to pick up the coolant line at the Sales desk which was open later.
