Individual options requiring the premium package?
It's been ten years since I've shopped for a new BMW. Back then, you could pick from several packages and then a list of options that could be added individually. I don't really want or need anything included in the premium package, but when I configure a build on the web site, it won't let me select the upgraded stereo or the LED lights without adding the premium package. Is there a reason why these options can't be ordered without the premium package? Is there some sort of hardware dependency I'm unaware of for these two options? Thanks?

LED headlights are standard.
On the 230, Harman Kardon requires Convenience Package but not Premium Package. Adaptive LED headlights appear to require both Convenience and Premium Package. On the 240, both require Premium. I did that from the builder. The spec sheet should say for sure but I am fairly confident about it. |

Thanks. I thought maybe the build tool on the web site was just trying to upsell me, but I found a copy of the ordering guide which clears it up. I'm still a little curious as to why the adaptive lights also require the premium package on the 230i. I can only assume there is some sort of hardware or wiring dependency that requires it. I'm still deciding between the 230i and the m240i, but I'm probably leaning towards the 230i. Coming from the non-adaptive Xenon lights I have on my 128i, are the adaptive lights that much better than the standard LED lights that I should consider adding the premium package to get them?
