Slower than expected 0-60 & qtr/mi after tune
Hi All: I recently went out and did a few 0-60 and qtr mile pulls with my car. The same day I also ran some data logs since I have recently been adding some bolt ons and such.
I was surprised to see that I was only getting the BMW rated 0-60 time, even though I am running a BM3 stage 2 map. The car feels more powerful, so I am wondering if this is a case of user learning curve, or I should be considering anything else. The timing seems a bit jumpy in the logs, but not sure how much deviation to expect. Attached are the draggy screenshots and two links to the BM3 datalog. Would love any input from you all. Can I improve time at certain data points, any log issues? The Car: 2018 m240i RWD Coupe. CG-Precision DP, Dinan Intake, Dinan Midpipe, Remus Exhaust. Conti Extreme contact sport tires. BM3 Stage 2, 91 Octane OTS Map. Note: I run 93 octane gas, but PTF recommended I stay on 91 map as it seemed the octane around my way isn't a true 93. Thanks all! http://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5dd1a550c090c6560b2e5d21 http://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5dd1a54ec090c6560b2e5d1e |

Which vendor is selling 93 octane that "isn't a true 93"?

When a gas station says it is 93 octane, there is an acceptable deviation. Technically it's "up to" 93 octane. So a 93 octane map has poor performance if it's not 93 or above octane. This was throwing off my timing quite a bit.

0-60 in an RWD car has a big variable .... the driver/ road conditions/ tires/.....
It would be better to do a before-after comparison 0-60 or better something like 20-80 (less variables as the whole start from standstill is taken out) or just do a before and after dyno |

This is perfectly normal. I have a RWD M240i 6MT MHD Stage 2, DP, Intake and E30 map and On the street with MPSS's 4.4-4.7 is about as good as it gets due loto traction. I've gotten as low as 4.2 at a prepped track. Fastest time was 12.4 with a horrible 60 ft. What was your 1/4 mile trap?

Seems slower than it should be. I get anywhere from 3.9-4.1 0-60. Generally, the car is quickest with DSC disabled, but it’s tough to nail it perfectly. I do have an LSD and 265 PS4S, FWIW. I’ve trapped as high as 120 on the Dragy and 119 at the track.

Any attempt I made is usually in Sport+. I tried turning the nannies fully off and just ended up with a giant smoke screen behind me lol. |

I feel like the biggest factor there are the tires. I know LSD makes a difference but 265's are definetely a huge improvement. I still run 245's lol

Just for perspective, here's what I've achieved on Draggy with my M240xi with a Dinan Stage 1 V1, and CF Cold Air Intake. RWD and 6spd manual is definitely a limiting factor but I would think your tune would allow slightly better numbers than you're getting. Could be the timing and other issues members have mentioned or it could just be nailing the launch and shift better. Took me a few runs to get my numbers down.

Really appreciate everyone's input. I have some homework now! Also, for anyone who really know logs, would love to know more on what you think. Still waiting on PTF but always good to hear other opinions. |

The LSD helps so much off the line. No more squiggly feeling; it just squats and goes.

My best street 0-60 and 1/4 to date (haven't been to the dragstrip yet). I know for the 1/4 mile run had I shifted myself after 2nd gear, I would have trapped 118-119. I also have more throttle closure issues than most other guys running BM3 stg 2 e30 and that's most likely caused by the MPPSK exhaust being stuck in open and having the ER catless dp which basically means I'm running a straight pipe system. Waiting to see the results of the Supra hpfp installs and then will go from there.

I’m running 18 x 9.5 ET 58 Apex EC-7’s out back, with 5mm spacers. I’m lowered on Dinan springs with no problems. I want to see about ditching the spacers and then modding the strut covers to see if a 275 will fit.

Nice, I am on Dinan's as well. May switch to coilovers down the line, but good to know I can beef up the derrière when I am ready!
