Coding Failed, ECU Won't show up

While coding active sound with bimmercode, my coding failed. Active sound ecu now won't show up in bimmercode, and bimmerlink won't recognize it either. I am now stuck with a loud and very intrusive Active sound (i had it in stereo before it failed) and now I cant change it. Can't restore from a backup either because the ECU won't show up. Don't know what to do?!!!!!!!

Either disconnect battery for a minute or two, or lock car and wait a couple hours before trying to restore from back up again. Had this happen to me. Don't stress

Disconnect negative on the battery and wait a few minutes? Then will the ASD ECU show up in bimmercode and allow me to restore from backup? Thanks so much for the reply!

Yep
Car was locked for a few hours. Connected with bimmercode and the ecu showed up. went to restore from backup and got the message "Coding failed" again. Checked settings and it looked like it did indeed change back to defaults, but it sounds like it is completely off now.... odd

Make sure that the engine is running and that's the restore point is clean

Engine was running. What do you mean by the restore point being clean? I just scrolled down to the first ever backup, which I assume is the stock programming but it still failed and disappeared again. At least it's not obnoxiously loud like it was before.. but now it's completely off

Update: Waited until the morning and and used Bimmerlink to turn the active sound on and off. Then went into bimmercode and everything worked as normal. Odd behavior but resolved. Thanks!
