Should I purchase my m235i at end of lease?
My lease is done very soon. Wondering if I should purchase my leased car at end of lease. I paid for 47,500 miles on the lease but only used 27,017 miles.
Stats: 2015 BMW m235i auto trans 27,017 miles Alpine White, red leather interior. Literally every option installed. Residual was 58% Total lease payoff: $36,568.54 Security deposit to be returned to me: $6,650.00 Manheim MMR on this specific car $27,900 (dealer) $33,100 (estimated retail value) KBB on this specific car $28,106 (trade in), $31,083 (private party value) Make any sense to buy it? I've enjoyed this car and love how it drives and looks but had mechanical problems that have been minimal lately but significant in the past. |

I was in a similar spot, I ended up leasing a new one but I was amazed at how willing the dealers were to work with me on negotiating the buyout price. I had it lowered by $2k without any real effort. So I'd start calling around to some dealers and see what they can offer, might make the decision easier....or harder.

Help!
So of course I waited too long and now my lease is over this Sunday. The pay off price for my 2015 m235i with 27.8k miles is $29,064 and the residual is $29,764. I tried to call 3 dealerships and none of them would quote me any lower than that price Bc apparently there are new rules implemented (in the last couple months) and they can't go any lower than that stated price. Am I doing something wrong/ not asking the right questions?

I bought my M235 at the end of the lease for just over $30k but I only had about 11,500 miles on it. Dealer would not discount so I just worked with BMW of NA, they obviously didn’t discount it. Bought it outright in May of 2017 and still only at 14,800 miles on a 2014.
