extended warranty for $6200?
Hello all,
my 2015 m235i is at 48000 miles and I'm looking to have some sort of extended warranty. I called two BMW dealerships and they both quote me $6200 for the extra 3 years and up to 100,000 on the clock. is this normal? It just seems like an insane amount of money however they both quote me the same exact number and they said BMW warranty will not change in price from dealer to dealer, this is for the platinum coverage. does anybody know if this amount seems normal or if there's a better way to get that warranty? |

Granted, I got the warranty when I purchased the car.
But I got a 3rd party warranty through my credit union,3 year - 125k miles bumper to bumper which includes keyfob protections, rental reimbursement, paintless dent removal, luxury electronics, and all sorts of goodies for $2300. The closest equivalent from the BMW Dealer would have ran over $5000 - and would have still been 3rd party. The BMW dealer encouraged me to go with my credit unions plan, so that's what I did. They had all the way up to 5 year - 125k miles, but driving 2,000 miles a month alone for work didnt justify the extra cost for the 2 years. (~3200) |

does an extended warranty make sense for a 2019 m240i x for someone going about 7k miles a year who will keep this car for a while? just to do the 5 year wheels and tires protection is about 2300. thanks.

hard to know for sure but I wouldn't buy it on a brand new car unless you're absolutely sure you're keeping it for at least 6 years AND you get a really good deal on the extended warranty. you can always add it later on as long as the car is still under warranty, some people have said that it's usually cheaper when bought as an add on with the new car but hard to know for sure
