That's normal. I changed the exterior color after I received a production number. The color shown in the portal only updated when the car started production last week. If you're in doubt, I recommend calling BMW Genius to confirm the options. They can use your production number to see your build. |

I am also interested in the end of MY18 and the start of production for MY19 as my '15 M235i lease ends in September and I am starting to look at a replacement.
I would like to buy it, it's in great shape and only has 6500 miles but it was leased when residuals were 62% and my local dealers have never been good with discounts. I will still check to see what their pricing will be to CPO and sell to me at lease end but not holding my breath for much of a discount off the inflated residual. With residuals now about 10% less than my current lease, I may end up purchasing my replacement M240i and keeping it long term. Right now BMW is offering 1.9% finance in my region. |

I think you should be able to order a 19 in August so you should be fine there.
In other news... two weeks since I put my order in... still no production ID/vin. Dealer is still confident that they can get me a car before the end of production, but who knows how much of that is just smoke and mirrors. |

I placed my order in April (2018 M240i) and received a week 25 (June) production date.
From what I was told, the 2019s will see a slight price increase and that they will see production begin between June and July. |

Standard BMW production shift to a new model year for a car that isn’t a new model, happens after the summer shutdown that is at the beginning of August.

I have a production number but it's been two weeks and I still don't have a production date. How long does it usually take? I tried calling and checking the site for the status and both mentioned the car has not been scheduled for production yet.

I just received my production number two days ago for a 230i order I placed in late April. I'll post when my production date is assigned. I believe 8-10 weeks is the typical production time which would be mid-late July. Hopefully, the production date appears relatively quickly before August and the summer slowdown. So I finally started to see some movement on the production status of what I thought was my car. I did some research on the VIN and noticed some of the specs were off. When I inquired about the details from the dealer they told me it's not my car. Apparently, they lied and gave me someone else's production number, because I told them several months back that I needed a production number else I would cancel. When I asked from my real production number they claimed my actual order was deleted from the system, so I'll have to start all over. I have waited 4 months now and I have absolutely nothing. I'm beyond upset at this point. I really want to do performance delivery but I don't want to wait another 2-3 months. That said the dealer seems remorseful and wants to make it right so I have some leverage here for a discount or some freebies. They can get a similar car without PDC and no PD by this weekend but then I would have waited 4 months just to get a car from the lot which seems insane to me.

Otherwise I'd strongly recommend working with a different dealer. This is just awful. Part of the reason I'm sticking with BMW is that I've really enjoyed my dealership's experience, it was way better than my experience with the Audi dealer, though there could be some better communication.
