convertible OCDness

OK, I thought it was just me when I started to use the control for the convertible top. Push down should close, and Pull up should open.. Nope just the opposite. So I pulled up TIS to see if I could just swap a couple of wires to change it and find that it's only US cars that operate that way all others operate as you would expect. Probably some DOT reg or something...

Additionally, looks like the wiring is the same for all cars and the change is done in the software so hopefully it can be coded correctly..

Agree, it feels like you should lift up to put the top down, but when you think about it, it's the same as the window switches, where pushing down on the button lowers the windows (and top) and lifting raises the windows and the top, so it really is logical. That said it takes me a few days to get into the correct habit once we are back in the top down driving season. Not sure about other vert owners, but weather permitting, I am typically lowering and raising my top 3 times a day - morning drive to work, lunch and evening drive home. I always put the top back up when I get home and rarely park it in the garage with the top down.

It's best for the top to be kept top up whenever possible - ie only top down if driving and enjoying.

You push down to open the top, just as you would open a window. And pull up to close. Couldn't imagine it any other way. Any window switch or convertible switch I've ever seen was operated that way.

I forget what it's called but there's some convertible top module you plug in behind the rear seat that allows you to do all sorts of fancy things. I'm 100% sure it allows you to change the direction of the switch and also do one touch instead of hold.

I don't get it. Push down to put top down pull up to put top up. My 2 S2000's operated the same way. Must be me.

Got a used smarttop module from a forum member a few months ago.. There are many convenient features. Pull up to open/ push to close being one of them.

A few features that i use the most are:

- allows you to open/close via comfort access and remote.
- one touch open or close so you dont have to keep holding the button while opening while driving.

I'd highly recommend.
