Wheel fitment question
Hey everyone! New to the forums here and just recently picked up a m235xi. The car is completely stock as of now so I figured I would go ahead and make sure to get the wheels and tires upgraded first.
The wheels I picked out measure 18x8.5 et35 and I was planning on running a squared setup on 225/40/18 conti dws 06. I've seen on a few threads on here as well as VMR reps that have posted confirming that setup would fit but I just wanted to confirm that would fit (especially without spacers) on my currently stock setup. Thanks! Also, if you happened to know if that setup would have any negative issues in the future with any suspension modifications. |

You may want to click over on the 3 series site here and use the TireRack calculator to verify fitment. I use this all the time. Presuming your front wheels are currently 18X7.5" with a 45mm offset, then you may find a problem fitting 8.5" wheels up front. The calculator indicates you'll have 3mm less clearance on the strut side, and the wheel will extend an additional 23mm towards the fender. That's just about a full inch. Didn't check the backs because I don't know if you have a staggered set up now.

Thanks for the reply, John!
I actually used that calculator prior to ordering the wheels and figured I had enough proof they would fit so I went ahead and ordered them. Actually had them put on today. Unfortunately, won’t be able to get any pictures right now but they fit. Still quite a bit of room between the front wheel and suspension (reached in with my hand will take a more accurate look soon). And the back wheels are also fitting just fine (they were the 18x7.5 et45 square setup). And as you mentioned there is a bit of poke but nothing crazy. Gives it a bit more of an aggressive look without pushing it imo |
