Bought Service Plan for my M240i
So I just took delivery of my 18 M240i. I promised myself I wouldn't purchase any service plans or packages they offered in finance but they got the best of me.
They offered me the 4 year, 50k full maintenance plan that covers brakes, rotors, alignments, etc for $2k. They said brakes are no longer covered in 2017 and newer models which I verified on the BMW website. When I turned it down, they dropped my loan rate from 1.9% to 1% which saved me about $800 in financing and made the plan a bit more amenable since it really only cost me $1200. I figured it would be worth it since it extended my maintenance an extra year and would cover at least 1 brake job and alignment. Was I duped or was this really a good idea? I plan on keeping the car long term. Thanks. |

Brakes are ~$500 so you can do the math. |

For OEM pads, turning rotors, and fluid change? Fronts only, or both axles?
What's the average lifespan of fronts/rears on a DD?

My brakes started squeaking at 34K.
Back and front pads replaced followed by the back rotors. And now the front brakes are squeaking - the front rotors must be replaced. My car is at 35.5K miles now

Wow I thought the pads would last a good 40-50k miles like my Lexus IS350F did especially since I do mostly highway driving and I'm not an agressive braker.
It sounds like based on the experiences here, maybe it was worth the $1,200. If I get a brake job at least once (including rotors front and back if I push them to do it) and extend my service an extra year, sounds like a good deal. |

OEM front pads can be bought for $130
OEM rear pads for $110 OEM front rotors for $350 OEM rear rotors for $300 Or around $900 to 1,000 for all parts assuming you order online. Buying at the dealer will cost you a lot more. Then if you can't DIY (pad and rotor changes are CRAZY easy with basic handtools), BMW or an indie shop will charge you $300+ for install. So for $1,200, it's probably worth it ASSUMING BMW actually will replace the pads and rotors for you. If they're not worn out past specs, they won't do the work. |

There will be no "pushback" on BMW to get them to do this. It has to meet their standards for a replacement. Unless you go and gouge the shit out of your rotors with a screwdriver |
