Federals - havent used,
Re71 rs - using now, great tire wears kind of quick, maybe 3 track days or 4 months of daily use. Cup 2s - too expensive, wears too fast and uneven. Nt05s - street tire, decent on track, will wear less if just street driving. R888- same as nitto 01, Nitto 01- same as r888, great track tire, super loud, would run these instead of a hoosier slick, have these on apex arc8s for track days dsw06 - great all season, I run these for colder and winter months

just make sure you read the measurements of the tires.
the nittos, and the re71rs i know are larger than what they say on the side by almost a full size.

I'm running mpss now and people tend to say they are almost a full size wider as well. Do you think re71rs and nittos are even wider than that? |

mpss are not wide at all, they are small tires. you need to read on the mfg website about the tire. it shows tread depth, width, etc...

careful with the RS4s they are pretty wide like half inch wider than the RE71r for example... or even the old RS3s |

I guess 2 more shootout questions. Can anyone rank these which will last longest street driving?
And do the 4 listed below offer better dry grip than mpss? I assume yes? Federal rsr Hankook rs-4 Nitto nt05 And re71 R |

RS4 will probably last the longest. I have experience with the RS3 and they lasted quite well and initial reports show that the RS4 may last even longer. Re71 will have the least life for sure and what I'm currently running. I just ordered 255 square RSRR for $520. My track season should be starting soon so it will be interesting to see how they compare to the re71. They will be my DD/track tire.

Just had a short drive to work on the RSRR so can't compare them to the RE71 just yet. They are just as loud as the RE71, but the noise is a little more high pitched. The RE71 seemed to hum at a lower pitch (more bassy). To me this give the impression that the RSRR is slightly quieter.
Can't compare the sidewall stiffness since the shop put less air in the RSRR than I run in the RE71. Finger nail "test" makes me think the RSRR compound is just as soft (maybe slightly softer) than the RE71. RSRR runs wider than the RE71 (255 vs 255) sidewall to sidewall, but I think the actual tread width is the same. RSRR is heavier too.

True, RSRR does not replace the RSR. They are meant for two different activities.

Not much to update. Have yet to track the car again and I may not track the car anytime soon...if at all. After 15 years of track days the risk:reward ratio is diminishing. I would like to hit up Big Willow one last time just to compare the laptimes to the RE71. Though if I do track again it will probably be Auto Club Speedway where I've only used RS3's before.
DD notes...Sidewall is a little softer than the RE71 with the same tire pressures. I also think I'm still dealing with a little tread squirm since the tread is deeper (vs RE71) and still new. As a DD tire it's a no brainer. Less than half the price of the RE71 with probably 97% of the performance. Should work fine in the wet (as long as there is no standing water). I also bet they last longer than the RE71. I hope to get 10k miles out of these haha. ~$1200 for 255/35/18 RE71 Vs. $520 for 255/35/18 RSRR
