Here's a Dinan pic for those considering that route. Note the lettering was hand done by yours truly doesn't come that way, all black from them.

I might do the Dinan with the M2 lower part of the air box.

Nice work on the lettering! Did you use a stencil or just freehand? Also, where did you get the strut bar?

Perfect, thanks very much. No need for a pic of the can, found it on home depot site.

Nice. Just go slow and do multiple costs. It doesn't adhere at first but once you get a tack coat down or whatever painters call it things improve quickly. No need to sand or prime or anything.

The Injen is one of the best aftermarket intakes for the M235. Sounds great, looks great, installs pretty easily, and best of all the turbo-swoosh sounds. +10 Butt Power. They also run a promo from time to time where you get a free second filter (I can't see needing to replace this, as they look washable)

Idk about butt dyno gains, but aural gains are through the roof. I still love playing with that intake. I especially like to make it whistle when someone has their windows down or is in a convertable.

Install was a slight pain on my 2016 because of some plastic box in the engine bay. It's above the shield for the intake. I had to he-man that thing out of the way. I typically see it as missing in most pics of the intake, but the instructions don't say to remove it. I'll see if I can find a pic of mine and up load it.

Updated: Here's a pic. Note the black cover to the left of the driver side strut tower.

The +Butt dyno comment was legit sarcasm. I probably had to shit.

Ideally it needs to be trimmed, the clearances are wayyy too tight. You can he-man it in place but it still doesn't sit right.

I've never heard of this type of "meth" injection

Yeah, it definitely does not sit right. I've noticed in other years that he cover is missing and at one point I considered just removing the stupid thing. Dealing with that cover was legit 50% of my install time. If that wasn't there it would have been a breeze.

Looks like Injen changed the location for the vacuum line on their intake. Just got this one a couple of days ago.

Ended up getting the plausibility cel and hesitation at partial throttle (caused the cel) right off the bat.

Just disconnected the maf to see if it helps.

On the plus side for the Injen I noticed that the boost holds higher through the rpms than stock. Stock (drop in filter) vs Injen

I know there is a lot off back and forth on open intake vs closed. Any thoughts on injens design? How well do you think the heat shield seals that little compartment off.

I have their intake. I love it. Can't speak to the minutia of open vs closed vs brand x vs brand y. At the end of the day it's just an intake and honestly the performance difference between one and the other is minuscule.

I chose the Injen because it's a name that I'm familiar with and the value proposition. I'd rather put my money towards other mods. I added the AFE intake scoop thing as well. It helped, but heat soaked is heat soaked. It can only do so much.

Yup that's the same reason I went with it. I got a great deal and I think it was a great value. I love it too and I think you bring up a good point.

I suppose I could have answered that myself too haha. I'm sure the partial sheild is better than not having one, but obviously not as tight as a sealed box. Interesting approach on design though.

An open intake sucks in all the hot air from under the hood, regardless if it has a shield or not. I measured over 200f in the engine bay after a track session in the summer.

If you dyno an open filter vs stock, i bet the stock box would be better for performance.

That being said, i went with dinan with an afe vent up under grills and wrapped the tube in heat tape.

I guess the point I was getting at would be that the shield has gasket material on it that should seal to the underside of the hood. Therefore making a "sealed ish" area.

Even if it doesn't seal it off completely from the hot air it should make it the path of most resistance.

And a metal shield will stop radiant heat from reaching the head of the intake.

I didn't check after my track day, but cruising on the highway at 65 mph my iats are about 12-15 degrees above ambient.

Sweet engine bay btw Brian! I wish that foil tape was perfectly smooth though. I think I may do that eventually to.

good luck trying to get it smooth!

it took 2 rolls, about 70$ to just get that done. The heat will actually bubble it up as well.
