You can turn it off/on/bypass via bluetooth smartphone app in about 10 seconds with DINANTRONICS. Change stages the same way when the additional stages become available.

Anyway i am going to 40i. Will this tune use CANBUS data, with JB4 my obd stuffs (mperformance led steering wheel and lap timer) will not work correctly so i am worried about this thing. In the past, without a dp making 400HP (stage 3 of M235i) is amazing. I will keep watching this for stage 2 or 3 for B58. |

Got this email a few weeks ago and was pleased to see the numbers:
While the SPORT Tuner for the B58 engine has been out for a little over a month now and has garnered some great results along with some impressive feedback from the community at large we were also hard at work developing a variant of a more advanced tuning solution for the platform as well. That solution, the new DME8 DINANTRONICS Performance Tuner, offers the end user a more sophisticated control unit with more capabilities and inputs than its more basic SPORT brethren. This allows for more power, and control, to be achieved with the new device. As a result this allows the product to carry the world renowned factory matching warranty Dinan is synonymous with. The new generation of DINANTRONICS Performance Tuners is upon us and the future is blisteringly fast. Stage 1 DINANTRONICS Performance Tuner for the F30 / F34 340i and F32 / F33 / F36 440i (Non-MPPSK) Retail Price: D440-1650-ST1 Stage 1 $1399.00 Install Time: 1.0 hrs BMW Factory Ratings: 320 HP, 330 lb-ft torque (381 HP, 386 lb-ft Measured) With DINANTRONICS Tuner: 412 HP, 438 lb-ft torque I was initially concerned about power measurements vs. actual gains at the wheel. This pretty much put that concern to rest. As I expected the published BMW HP and Torque numbers are likely close to actual WHP and torque numbers. With Dinan measuring at the crank that difference is pretty evident. W/ the Dinan tune, the Crank numbers "jump up " nicely which should correspondingly raise the WHP & Torque numbers by the same amount (all things being equal). So if we use the BMW published HP and Torque numbers as @ the wheel numbers, Dinan tune gains should be something in the vicinity of 366 WHP and 421lb ft. torque @ the wheels. Have to further assume this is w/ the tune set to the max (race?) setting (which hopefully still makes the car "everyday" drive-able and no CEL's). This is on my short list of things to do. Have the dealer install, set to max and leave it. Last edited by USA-RET; 03-19-2017 at 09:43 AM.. |

I have to say I am impressed with this at such a reasonable cost with the warranty. I am looking forward to reviews!
One thing that should not be overlooked is their baseline dyno. They measured 369 HP and 415 TQ stock on the B58. That is an awesome starting point! Pat |

I did get it installed on Monday. I've put about 60 commuting miles on the car since. So far I'm very impressed. You definitely feel the difference in comfort mode, but especially in Sport, Sport/Sport and Sport+. I think I grayed-out a little on my first pull from a stop because I really wasn't expecting that kind of acceleration and it wasn't even close to redlined/WOT! The butt dyno makes me believe the Dinan numbers. You really could get yourself in trouble with this tune because it just makes you want to drive faster- like I need another excuse to be the asshole BMW driver.
What's just as good as the extra torque is the drivability. I detect no change from factory throughout the power range- very smooth power application, no hiccups, shudders, power losses, etc. Besides the warranty, this is really the upside to the Dinan tune imo. The app provides comms via bluetooth, but it's really spartan at this point. You only have the ability to select a stage (of course only 1 now) or bypass the system. Looking forward to stage 2! Good job Dinan!

Can you tell me exactly how yours is/was set. The sport tune allows different settings w/ "race" being the highest. Based on your review, the Dinan Elite Stage 1 is either on (all the way) or bypassed. Yes? Hoping that's the way it is designed (on or off). Mine (when I have my DMW dealer install it, will be on all the time. |

Question....
What is this product for $299? Compared to what's being talked about here? https://www.dinancars.com/product/d4...w-b58-engines/ Will this work for my 2017 m240i 6MT convertible? For a power gain? Will it affect warranty/trigger CEL's? (lease)

Sport is a very simple product with iirc 2 sensor/locations that it taps into on the vehicle and covers no warranty on the vehicle Elite plugs into 8 or 9 different components on the vehicle, is upgradable to stage 2/3 to be released in future as part of other product offerings (intercooler, exhaust, intake, big turbo, etc) and provides warranty coverage Take a look at the installation docs on Dinan's website, and for comparison sake look at the stage 2 and 3 offerings for the M235 to get an idea how the elite offering is scalable and upgradable through an app |

The Elite tune takes 4 sensor inputs vice 2 on the Sport making drivability better. I have the Elite installed and find no difference from factory driveability. Also, the Elite can be upgraded via software that can take advantage of hard parts as they are released. With other models, 4 stages of tuning have been released- cold air intake, exhaust, and SW for stage 2, intercooler and SW for stage 3 and big turbo and SW for stage 4. And finally the warranty is added. So, if you are interested in improved drivability, the opportunity to get more out of the car in the future with potential future stages and the warranty, then the Elite is the one you want.
