Clunk noise when reversing full lock in cold.
Anyone else had this:
when its cold and i first get in car it makes a clunk clunk noise from front when i reverse out of car spot on full lock right hand down. once car warmed up its gone when u do same manoeuvre, not sure if common or to check. its odd sound wheel could be slipping but u feel a physical clunk feels mechanical. |

Myself and others have experienced the same thing. Last few winters there were some post about this.
Probably caused by 'stiction'. Do you have summer tire's on the wheels. I just switched to Michelin a/s from PSS's and haven't had the clunk this season, but maybe just not cold enough yet. |

Definitely experienced this as well....only with summer tires (pss). Havent experienced with my winter setup. Only when full lock in reverse backing out and only when cold. It does sound like a mechanical clunk...like a knuckle popping out and back in sorta thing.

Lee,
Its normal and a feature of the cars "Ackerman" geometry. http://www.babybmw.net/viewtopic.php...erman#p1195880 Daniel, Brake clunk - again typical with these caliper / pads - pads can move radially slightly - nothing to be concerned about. BP

If it's bugging you, then yes go to the dealer to take a technician out for a test drive to replicate the problems and see what he says. BP

"Akermann" geometry related clunks/noise will be exaggerated by cold tyre sidewalls. Less evident when tyres are warm.

Took mine to the dealer, as I've owned BMWs since 1991, and the only time you should get clunks in the suspension is when something isn't right. Turns out strut bearings at top were faulty -- as were the second set that they replaced them with (they noticed immediately and ordered another set). There is a difference between clunks and scrubbing of tires.

It's a good idea to remove and clean the contact surfaces of the pad to caliper/caliper holder once year or two. This is a great product we use at our shop since 2005. We have yet to find anything else that works better. It's also under Molykote, but the MB version is much less expensive. https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Merce...&creative=9325 |
