are you sure? all 4 of my BMWs have had sunroofs as a factory option and none of them have been tinted or look remotely close to OPs sunroof... including my current f22 and f30 and previous e92 and e90.
you don't have to believe me, but tinting your sunroof has always a bad idea in my book

They're all tinted from the factory. The glass itself has tint in it. The picture was taken on a cloudy day thus the tint looked darker. Aftermarket tint is applied via a film. If the moonroof had aftermarket tint, the shattered glass would have stayed on the film. Tinting has nothing to do with this issue.

Happened on our GTI's moonroof when it was two weeks old. Hasn't happened since. Was pretty scary though!
