Guys - looking at those pic I cannot help thinking "why the hell are those people follow the current 'black rims' trend so blindly?". For a wheel - no matter what size, but the smaller the size the more important it is - to really show up, it must be silver or at least gray. Any color M235i with black rims looks as if it has no wheels at all...
I realize pictures taken with a smartphone emphasize this effect, as - especially with bright body color - exposure being OK for the body, it puts dark rims deep into shadows, but even when I spot a white car with black rims in reality I just don't like it; even with over-sized rims the aggressiveness effect is just not there.

I personally like the contrast of the black on my EB. With the matte front splitter and black kidneys, carbon mirrors, I feel grey or silver would look somewhat "factory" in comparison to black wheels.

just put on my v710's, very happy with them!
F: 18x8.5 ET35 R: 18x9.5 ET50 gloss anthracite decided to go with the ET50's to show a little less poke in the rear. I wanted ET40's up front as well but it turns out that the poke front and back are now just about the same, so it worked out. iphone pics inbound, better to come soon hopefully. |

Hey VMRWheels,
I just went through all 11 pages of this thread and I think I have a setup that will work, I just want some clarification. My vehicle: 2017 m240i xDrive with staggered factory tires My goal: 225 or 235 front, 255 or 265 rear (possibly PSS, but more likely DWS 06. Not sure if the new wheels will be all seasons, or my new summer set) Stock Suspension (not sure if I'll ever lower it) Keeping the car trackable From my understanding, I could go V710 19x8.5et45 w/5mm spacer and run 235s in the front. If I go et35, I'll be limiting myself to 225s, correct? I can go 19x9.5et50 and run 255s in the rear, but et45 with 255s is hit or miss? Do you think a 265 on et50 would not rub on stock suspension? |

If you choose the 235/255 setup, you'll be outside of the 1%. The 225/255 setup is within the 1% at 0.8%. The 265 in the rear would likely require some slight modification.

The difference on in stock diameters is greater than that (when staggered). 1.6% IIRC. 235/255 would actually be a hair less than stock difference.

But you're right, it's still over the 1% for xDrive setups. 235/35f 255/30r would be 1.81%. |

1) They make the wheel gap appear larger, especially on darker colored cars. 2) Dark rims look smaller because of the lack of contrast between the wheel and tire. 3) Dark rims really bring out the brown in tires. 4) Dark rims can look like steelies at a distance. 5) All depth and contrast is lost with dark rims. |
