Gorgeous pic of a gorgeous car (2016 EB M235i here, too). I'd love to have the full res version if you don't mind sharing it.

Nice that your dealer offered that. I'm approaching 1200 miles so I called my dealer aka the only bmw dealer in Utah, who told me no and that the oil change would cost $250!
How in the hell can a oil change cost that much? I didnt stay on the phone long enough to get a breakdown. The oil and filter can be had for around $70-80 - I'll just do it myself.

To OP: Nice shot in the garage! You can code out the corner ambers while the halos are on, they still come on when you use a blinker, but I think it cleans up the front look while the DRLs are on.

Congrats...I agree that the black grills would look excellent. It's the first thing I did to my car. There is no other chrome on the M235. The window trim is dark and the wheels are painted. I always thought that the chrome trimmed grill looked out of place.

A very large fraction of new BMW's are leased, not sold. This means that the leased car goes back to BMW after a fairly short interval and that they resell the cars, often as CPO vehicles. It is in the interest of BMW to ensure that these cars, which usually have 30-45K miles on them, are in the best possible condition. If the cars benefitted from an oil change at 1200 miles, BMW would mandate it and pay for it,, because it is in their interest to ensure that the car remain in top condition when it is returned (same reason for 'free' maintenance overall). The fact that they don't mandate an early oil change tells me that there is no problem with the longer interval on all but the fussiest set-ups (real M).
For what it is worth, my M235 told me it needed an oil change at 9K miles. My wife's X3 started screaming at her at 5K miles. The difference: she drives 30 miles each way to work and back every day, mostly on local roads at speeds under 40 mph. I drive short distances locally and occasionally on long trips. The car knows! |

If it did it would have had you in about 3K miles sooner |

I heard bmw used to have a complimentary break in service for all vehicles back in the day.
