I used to use them in previous vehicles and always felt like it helped. I used one in my 2 for about 1000 miles but was worn down by people on this forum with the notion the oil can potentially get in the system. And perhaps more importantly let too many particles through due to the less restrictive screen. The gains will maybe get you 1hp if that, so I decided it wasn't worth the risk. Also I felt like I didn't like the throttle response as much with it. (Wasn't as smooth) maybe it was in my head..

I didn't think K&N was available for the M235. I used them on two other vehicles. Very good product. On my truck, the oil did set off an O2 sensor. Anyone have a preference on air intakes?

I have the Dinan CAI and it's an oiled version. No issues with the O2 sensor at all.

I replaced my BMS with a K&N and never looked back. Lost some cool sounds but the reliability is key. Works just fine no issues.

Loved my KN but recenlty got MAF code due to the oil. Took it out cleared the code and no issues since... Might clean some of the excess oil off and then retry because It did give some cool sounds over the stock one.

AFE pro Dry S is a pretty good alternative... better flow than stock and no oil

does this completely remove the possibility of throwing a code because it doesn't have oil? or does the change in airflow still present a problem?

It will not throw a code cause it uses the stock airbox. It's just a better filter than you can just wash instead of throw away

I use the same, no issues over the past 8k miles. Does bump up the intake sound in sport (slightly), but only under hard pulls. Otherwise, just as quiet, more flow, all good.
