Have you had any experience with the Rainbow 3 way kit? Not sure if all of the Euro kits (Gladen, Jehnerts, etc) are all just variations of the same speakers or if there are actual significant changes between the lines. Been looking at doing an Audison Voce tweeter and 3" midrange with some Prima 8's under the seats, but getting a 3 way kit would really make things simpler, especially not having to custom build some adapter plates to fit those Prima 8's under the seats.

For your E30 ? or an F22 ?
Gladen, Jehnerts, rainbow or Eton are differents speakers. I know Eton and it's recommanded by German press. If you want Audison you can find here some pics of an install in an F30. http://www.hifimobile.fr/installation_det.php?id=217 Emplacments are very similar, adaptators are easy to make in expanded PVC and he did'nt change moulding corners to install Audison tweeters. but you need 4 inch midrange AP4, not 3 inch. |

The version in the first post is NOT the file I'm using at the moment, as I've just cobbled together something to tide me over until Nelson has the real F22 hk file prepared. However, if you want to try it, I'll post it here. Realize I rate this as "Beats a sharp stick in the eye" and use it as a starting point, or hang in for a week until the correct one is up. When I get that one, I'll put it at in the first post of the thread. Download the attached file, and remove the ".pdf" from the file name. This file was created using version 2.93 of the software (found here: http://www.audiotec-fischer.de/files...OOL-2-93_2.exe ), which is not the most current version.

Earlier in this post it was mentioned that the default dip switches were set incorrectly. What does changing their positions to as suggested do? Is it to up the overall gain for every channel? Asking since I installed a Bimmertech/Match amp recently but did not check the switches. I am debating on whether to pull everything apart or not to adjust this.

Tune is finally ready
I want to start by saying this tune wasn't easy to create. We spent about 5 hours creating the tune. 3 yesterday and 2 today. The HK tweeters are metal dome and to me and my tuning partner ears they're harsh. If you look at the tune you will see that we had to do a lot cutting in the upper frequencies. I highly recommend upgrading the HK speakers to something else if your budget allows it. The tunes were created with the bass and treble tone settings set to flat but you might want to adjust them to your taste. Regarding the usb cable, you are right George we need to include a 90 degree adapter. I will make sure we include one in future orders. We made 2 tunes. The 1st is our standard tune and the 2nd one has been modified for the owner of the M235i taste. Both were done with dip switches #2 and #4 ON. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B93...ew?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B93...ew?usp=sharing Please share your thoughts. In addition to linking the tuning files for both HiFi and harmon kardon systems, the first post in the thread has now been updated to reflect the current recommended version of the software and to reflect some other comments that Nelson has made on future shipments and accessories.

Thanks for this. My car is right hand drive with the HK system. Do I need to change any of the parameters in your HK tune? |

So obviously I don't have an amp (yet) so I'm not really qualified to comment, but I downloaded the Windows tool and the two new tunes and had a look at the settings, and I'm surprised at how "lumpy" the graphs are, and also at the significant difference between the front-left and front-right EQ settings.
I'm guessing they are optimized for the (left-hand-drive) driver's ears, so I would expect some asymmetry, but can you please speak to the drastic peaks and troughs, at least as displayed in the tool? Is that really how a tune done with an RTA comes out, or would you normally expect a smoother curve when done with higher-quality speakers? Intuitively, I would be concerned that if the speakers required such an up-and-down EQ curve, it would imply that they are of such low quality and linearity that this tune might not work as well on other instances of the same speakers in somebody else's car, or at least that there were fairly severe reflection and comb-filtering effects in play which affected the result. I'm sure that last part is true for ANY car installation, but... Please understand that I'm not trying to criticize or second-guess. I'm just surprised and intrigued. |

I got same peaks and troughs with differents speakers. In a car, first you need to ajust delais for front then rear speakers until sound comes from twelve O'clock or six for rear speakers. All you need is your ears. Then you need to ajust signal to the car using a "pink noise" and Microphones. Bavasound has the best material to do that : they can do it from exterior the car when i only can do it from inside siting in rear seats my laptop on my knees and microphone blocked near position of ears driver. Doing this you can ajust left and right speakers simultaneous or better as bavasound separatively for best response. My only doubt : why did they apply a lowpass filter at 10KHz to all speakers ??? |
