Winter set up, NO tpms?
I just ordered a set of rims and tires and skipped the tpms.
Right now Im on the stock summer tires, and the pressure is low and wont allow me to shift into sport mode........ So after thinking a bit, I wonder if I can shift into sport mode with NO tpms installed in the new winter wheels? Any fast answer to this would be great! Im back and forth with tire rack and they havnt called back.... Thanks alot |

I think if there is no TPMS it will let you go into DTC ON or DSC OFF but you will have the TPMS light on all the time and also it's illegal to run with no TPMS thats why you see all kind of warnings at tire rack checkout page when you do so... |

Well, it would be nice if someone without tpms in different wheels still have the function for sport and sport +.................
I caught tire rack before they shipped and just had them install the tpms. This might be good info for someone else thou... It might just be a function of having lower tire pressure that wont let you go into sport and sport + mode. |

My factory set tripped the TPMS warning when it got cold a few times and I can confirm no sport available, for just a couple of PSI

One of my local BMW dealers mounted my tires on my aftermarket wheels without TPMS and put them on my car, and I can still do sport (haven't tried sport+).

Just put my winters (with no TPMS) back on this past weekend and confirmed that I can go into Sport and Sport+ no problem.
However, I wonder if the computer is "smart" enough to be able to make the call between actual low measured pressure and being unable to detect any TPMS at all. One is a measurable safety concern, one is just no communication with the device. *shrug* |

I think the error lights would drive me nuts.

But can you go into sport mode? Mine won't let me change out of comfort if it has a tpms error.

i was at the M school last weekend and all the cars did not have TPMS sensors (the warnings came on the screen each time the cars were started), which makes sense for them as tires are likely changed frequently. i was able to have the car in full DSC off, etc. these were, however, M cars.
