lock doors while engine on

Is it possible to start engine, take fob, lock with fob (warm up in winter with door locked)

Idling is bad & your car will warm up faster if you drive it.

Get in the car, let it warm up ~30 seconds (enough time to select heated seats, put on seatbelt, & pick your music choice) and go.

True. Just make sure the oil is pumped through the engine for at least 20 or 30 seconds depending on the outside temperature and you drive it very easy for the first minutes until the oil warms up. I've read that the majority of the wear on engine parts happens when it is first started up and cold.

Exactly. I'm also not talking about long amounts of time

I know this works with comfort access, I can touch to lock and leave it running for a sec while I run to close the door or whatever (bringing the fob with me). Haven't tried actually locking with the fob though.

Mines on order (no comfort access) so I would be good to know if it did

I do this and it works fine. I do not know why idling would be bad. Leave it running for 5 minutes with the rear defroster, front defrosters and seat / steering wheel heater on while you pack your lunch. I don't have comfort access either.

I think technically one could make the case not to do it.

IMHO if you generally take care of your vehicle, letting it warm-up a few minutes before you get in, is not going to appreciably reduce the lifetime of your car

Unnecessary use of gas and extra tailpipe emissions.

I always let my car warm up like that at night, i thought it was a good thing?

Also i have comfort access, i use the remote and it doesn't lock?

Should i be using the doors comfort access to lock it? I never tried i've always wanted to let it idle and lock and come back out but it would never do it by the remote.

Idling basically isn't good for anything. From spark plugs to exhaust outlets to oil circulation then then to tailpipe emissions.

Guys. It's easy. I mean I'm not sure how it works in AUS but it works for every car I've tried it with, comfort access or not.

Get out of the running car with the key. Close the door and hit the lock button on the key fob. The car should stay running and you should be able to quickly run into the gas station or wherever you're going. I just did it on Saturday to run in to a restaurant to get lunch.

Possible that this is disabled in certain countries? For example I'm in Canada and my current car (gti) won't. Lock

Possibly correct, I tried it and it didn't work...

Really wish it did

If I cared about unnecessary extra gas and emissions I would have bought a Honda Civic. This car has a completely unnecessary sport mode that wastes gas and adds to emissions. I tend to accelerate more than required to safely enter traffic and take the long way around to enjoy the drive at the peril of gas usage and our planet.

If you have ConnectedDrive you can also just start the heater/air con with your phone right?

All that does is circulate the air. The engine needs to run long enough to warm the coolant to do any defrosting or defogging.
