Fees
I'm confused about the fees. Are the Doc and Acquisition fee in addition to the destination fee?
And if possible, do any of you know the max I should agree to for these fees? I've read 80 for document and 725 for acquisition. Thanks! |

A little more information. The dealership I'm talking to messed up in the past by giving me wrong information and straight up lying about BMW NA's corporate programs. This got them in trouble(with BMW NA) and to make amends they're offering me a deal that looking at deals posted on this forum, seems very good.
MSRP:50.3k Sale Price(before taxes and fees): a little over 43.5k After getting the final numbers though, they're still padding it with exorbitant fees: Doc Fee: 500 (WTF!) Acquisition Fee: 925 Dealer Fees: 100 Cap Fees: 300 Cap Taxes: 1300 (this is a tax so not a problem but can anyone explain what this is ? the dealer wasn't very clear about it) All this is in addition to the 995 Destination and handling. Now since the deal is much better than anyone else is offering, I feel like I have no leverage to negotiate these fees. The dealer just said flat out that doc fees aren't negotiable, it's their standard rate and is pre-printed on the contract. Am I right to be suspicious ? I would really appreciate your opinions. Thanks! |

And then what's the total price after all fees and taxes? Something like $49k? |

I'm guessing the cap tax is the sales tax, there's no sales tax in addition to these fees. That cap fee is suspect though(a fee for a tax???)
The final price for me after all taxes and fees is 45.5k (called Gross Cap Cost on the lease worksheet). |

But if you're sure, and your out-the-door price really is 45.5, that's a screaming deal. That's the only number that matters really... |

I'm leasing so my tax is only a fraction of the tax on the whole car.
My sale price is 43.7k Residual is 57%, so my usage is 43%. The cap tax is 1270 so 1270/(0.43*43.7k) = 0.067 which is just about 7% = NJ State sales tax. Is my math correct ? |

Correction: I've been playing around with the numbers and the only way I arrive at the dealer's quoted price is if it's $45.5k before sales tax. So $46.8k net cap cost.

oh, then that makes more sense. I've never actually leased a car, so I was thinking of financing the whole thing. The residual isnt that great, but if you're set on a lease, this is pretty good IMO. Don't take my word for it though...check out the pricing thread to get some comparisons to the deals other people have gotten

Dest fee $995 - BMW NA charge, non negotiable. Cap Taxes - if it is an actual tax, they need to tell you what tax rate and base they used to calculate it. In some states you pay tax upfront on sale price, in some states you pay upfront on total lease cost, and in some tax is added to the monthly payment and nothing is charged upfront. Everything else is dealer profit. I.e. your sale price is actually 44.4k |
